Kim Wilde didn't exactly the greatest of personalities in her early 80's prime either, yet that didn't stop her from being a fascinating star in her own right.

 And what does she have to do with this?! Dragging in other random singers won't make me change my mind about Ellie Goulding.

I wish this would get lost. It's my least favourite winners single so naturally it will become the biggest. He will also be the first REALLY successful male winner when Shayne, Joe and Matt are all much better.

You were the one who came with the personality thing. B-)

Finally Foxes in the top 40. I loved "Youth".
James Arthur: the next Will Young or the next Steve Brookstein? Discuss!

Well, thats not a clear comparison as one is from Pop Idol and one is from the X Factor and much older then James Arthur. X Factor really haven't had a successful male winner so this could be new ground.

I would much prefer one of the other winners to have had this success with a winners song. I agree that Joe and Matt are MUCH better (though Ambitions really killed any success Joe could have).

Is this fairly close to taking over Hallelujah yet? Its surely only a matter of time now.

I'd give it another month or so.

Indeed I was. Then you brought in a random other singer which has nothing to do with my opinion. Eliie Goulding is dull to me. There you go.

Watching Rita Ora perform this the week after Laura Mvula blew me away with "Green Garden" on Graham Norton has made me detest the song that much more :puke:

Rita getting a boost from flirting with Jeremy Renner on Graham Norton :kink:

I don't think anyone ever thought about Joe McElderry as a potential big future star, to be honest. But I might be wrong.

Probably not, no. But Ambitions really wasn't his style and I'm sure had he released something more up his street, he would be more successful than he was (even if the success wasn't that big).
