have you ever had any entries which you now absolutely adore that didn't receive many (if ANY) points off you that would perhaps scoop a 7+ (even a 12) if sent now this time round?? maybe there's an entry which creeped up on you just TOO late to make an impact and you wish you had???

((i hope that i'm not the ONLY one who dives into their BJSC archives to listen to songs therefore making this topic REDUNDANT))

> kidnap kid 'vehl'

> saint lou lou 'maybe you'

> kitten 'G#'

> s o h n 'the wheel'

> sky ferreira 'everything is embarrassing'

> woodkid 'run boy run'

> shy'm 'et alors'

these are definitely the main offenders. in terms of sky and s o h n, i knew them beforehand and probs exhausted them a bit too much at the time, but i quickly just fall back in love with them both when i hear them again :( shy'm and saint lou lou grew on me STUPIDLY too. idk what i was smoking that i didn't vote kidnap kid or woodkid in their contest either

Icona Pop's 'I Love It'. Never gave it any points but is now easily one of the best tracks of 2012. Flop scandipop fan. :drama:
Flytta Pa Dej from XLV only got 3 points from me at the time, but is probably my second or third favourite from that contest now (although in all fairness, EVERYTHING I voted for in that contest and the few that missed out were amazing, by far the best contest I've been in). A big one was Dead Can Dance's Opium that got nothing from me at first, but grew on me MASSIVELY after the contest and ranks as one of my favourites from that contest.
'Indigo' is now REALLY GOOD, as is Nordpolen, although I did like both at the time.

OH GOD, I have at dozens of these - ignoring DNQ growers to keep the list down, eesh, that could be a whole other topic in itself.

tl/dr version: songs grow on me after BJSC all the time and I regularly listen to them and wish I had given them points. I am far too attached to this contest.

-x-

Sunrise Avenue - Hollywood Hills

Alpines - Cocoon

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know - gave that 2 points, it's now one of 10 tracks on my last.fm to have over 100 plays oops

Melissa Horn - Jag saknar mindre och mindre

Rebekka Karijord - Wear It Like A Crown

Astrid Williamson - Pour - All those 3 are fairly similar and very beauitful. Not a single one of them points. :(

Sweetbox - Fever

He Is We - All About Us

Liviu Hodor - Sweet Love

Same Difference - Karma Karma - knew it well, loved it, still love it, didn't give it any points. It wasn't helped by the strong contest but it's still one of the best from there.

Azealia Banks - 212 - Even 7 points wasn't enough for this, stretchy inclusion but it's fantastic.

Elsiane - Vaporous - And 1 point certainly wasn't for this.

Aura Dione - Geronimo

Amanda Mair - Doubt

Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks - see Gotye's entry, but just 1 point

Rebecca & Fiona - Jane Doe

Jess Mills - End Credits

Tolvai Renata - Can't Let You Go

Unicorn Kid - True Love Fantasy

Moa Lignell - When I Held Ya

Ian Carey - Amnesia

DJ Tatana - You Can't Get In My Head

Moonlight Breakfast - Still

Annah Mac - Girl In Stilettos

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Heart Attack

Ariana Grande - Put Your Hearts Up

Azari & III - Reckless With Your Love

San Cisco - Awkward

Lindsey Stirling - Crystallize

Electric Lady Lab - Taking Off

iamamiwhoami - play

Dreamon - Rise

Purity Ring - Obedear

Alina Devecerski - Flytta Pa Dej

Camo & Krooked - Cross The Line

Diamond Rings - I'm Just Me

Trentemoeller - moan

Diandra - Outta My Head

Madsen - Lass Die Musik An

Wild At Heart - Darling

Matrix & Futurebound - All I Know

Twin Shadow - Five Seconds

Austra - Beat And The Pulse

Lucinda Williams - Copenhagen

Tinashe - Come When I Call

I'm sure I've been generous here, but I do wish I'd given these points or more than the few I did give them - the problem of too much love and not enough point slots will be there as always.

Too soon to say for LI but I'm sure there'll be a few. Interesting how there's so many more from the earlier contests, it was a lot more in tune with my tastes then, but it was longer ago so more time for tracks I initially dismissed to grow. However in 2012 for most of the contests, there were normally about 12 amazing songs in the final with a lot that weren't, which still kept me fairly happy. I suspect this list would nearly double if I did include DNQs, they grow far quicker in general.

The ones on top of my head are:

Ian Carey - Amnesia

Woodkid - Run Boy Run

Icona Pop Feat. Charli XCX - I Love It

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

Frida Sundemo - Indigo

Can't believe I regarded Woodkid as 0/10 crap when it won last year. :drama:

UK release washes your brains into thinking a song that is being released is always good so yeah. :D

That does happen a lot of the time, I just think it gives you more reasons to listen to it and so its full potential as an amazing song gets into your brain.

Or some people are just mainstream whores.

I only got into Woodkid's Run Boy Run after seeing it being nominated in the Grammys for Best Short Form Video, which got me curious and then once saw it the song just clicked with me altogether.
Run Boy Run is still a 2/10 song, as it was when it was sent.

Yes.

My list probably looks something like:

Dasha Luks - Diskoteka (got many a point but should have gotten 10 (nothing was robbing Nordpolen))

The Storm - Raver (now my favourite John entry, only got like 3 points)

Saint Lou Lou - Maybe You (got nothing but I think it's beautiful now)

MØ - Maiden (should have got shitloads too ugh)

Ailee - I Will Show You (in retrospect deserved far more than 1 point but BJSC 50 was amazing anyway)

I usually listen to the entries quite a lot to prevent stuff like this happening but it does anyway :( BJSC 48 was crazy for growers, too.

The big one for me is You'll Never Love Me by Elisabeth Carew, I didn't even give it points but if we did that contest now it would be a 10 or probably a 12! There are more, I'll have a look later.

Aaaahhh there's so many!

Chart Music - All My Life

Astrid Williamson - Pour

Butterfly Boucher - Not Fooling Around

Jessie Ware - 110%

Purity Ring - Obedear

First Aid Kit - Emmylou

Shy'm - Et Alors!

Kidnap Kid - Vehl

D E N A - Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools

Trentemoeller - Moan

Trust - Sulk

MO - Maiden

Man Without Country - Puppets

Autre Ne Veut - Counting (yes already!)

As well as ones like Somebody That I Used To Know, Call Me Maybe, Brokenhearted and Little Talks etc. that grew on me cause I'm a mainstream whore.

Loving seeing Astrid in these lists, I knew it wasn't going to smash when I entered it as it was far too arty for immediate success but it's nice to see a few people stuck with it and came to realise it's potential.
omg D E N A and Dasha! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! :drama:
When I looked back at my original votes for XLVII or w/e i was nothing short of OUTRAGED at the fact I only gave Nordpolen 3 points :(. 1 point for Need U seems a little silly now too but at least that won.

Trentemoeller "Moan" got no points from me but I like it a lot now.

Plus these songs grew on me because of me being a mainstream whore :magic: ; Jessie Ware "110%/If You're Never Gonna Move", Imagine Dragons "Radioactive", Karmin "Brokenhearted", Lana Del Rey "Video Games".

That's just from the top of my head as I can't be arsed to search through contests to pick out songs etc.

The biggest BJSC grower for me is definitely 'I Love It' by Icona Pop which got 0 points from me in BJSC 45 although that was probably the best contest of 2012 imo. The Reminisce compilation Dandy made really brought the track back to my attention and upon hearing it again, the track just clicked more with me. Now it's an early contender to be my #1 track of 2013 even though I disregarded it 7 months ago. :D

Oh, and 'Little Talks' by Of Monsters And Men. Another I disregarded initially in late 2011 but ended up #1 for me in August 2012.

Dandy's first ever entry is the one I STILL regret not giving any points to. It grew on me as the results for that final were being revealed! :drama:
