A try-hard album :kink:!!

I think a lot of people will themselves into disliking this album purely because it underperformed and because Kylie herself doesn't really return to anything from it or look back on it fondly. And it's a massive shame because it's actually a really solid album and quite Kylie-by-numbers when you break it down.

Into the Blue was a perfect lead single, while the only real duds on the album for me are I Was Gonna Cancel and Les Sex (one or two duds are pretty commonplace on a Kylie album, I'd say). Very typical - yet still great - Kylie songs sprinkled through the rest of the album. Sexy Love, If Only, Kiss Me Once, Fine, Feels So Good, Mr President: all bangers.

Yaaas Calum! Kiss Me Once truthers rise up :cheeseblock:

I know I’ve posted this a few times over the years but I always like to sing the praises of Fine, Feels So Good & If Only in particular, three gems. These songs represented a fresh and interesting direction for Kylie to take, they were outside of her usual wheelhouse.

I Was Gonna Cancel was the misfire that torpedoed this era.

I do think it shouldn't have been a single by any means (although I can kind of understand why it was), but I'm honestly not sure if anything else at that point in time would've done much/any better. I feel like the era was kind of dead in the water by that point anyway.

Shame we only got two real singles though, they could've at least done another one for the X-Factor period (which ISN'T 'Beautiful')

The title track would have been perfect for this!

In my world the singles run would have been Into the Blue - If Only - Kiss Me Once, with the lead single premiering during The Voice live shows and being released not too long after.

I love Les Sex and think IWGC is decent.

I also think it’s a solid album and quite enjoyable to listen to start to finish. Though I now think it’s probably ranked bottom versus all her post PWL albums.

Les sex is by far one of the strongest on the album along with into the blue.

100%….also Les Sex is a first cousin of Padam. Padam would actually fit in on KMO!

!! Les Sex is an atrocity. More on par with the likes of Love Train from Tension, but nobody's ready for that conversation x

As much as I give about KMO as an album les sex I will defend as its the only track outside into the blue that offers me saving grace when I listen to the album, not that I do that anymore as no matter how hard I try KMO is not for me but les sex I sometimes revisit.

Maybe if you listened to tracks in isolation from each other, rather than approaching it as an album... I can't believe Kiss Me Once (the song) wouldn't be appealing! It's epic!

Controversial opinion of the day but there's some weaker album tracks to be found on Tension than there is on Kiss Me Once.

Not even Kiss Me Once, but not giving If Only the time of day either is baffling to me. To use a family comparison more appropriately, If Only is like the elder sister to Lost Without You.

It's funny you say that as lost Without You is I track I never got into nearly as much as other fans and likewise with if only.

Kiss Me Once is my favourite song on the album, followed by Les Sex. Love the whole vibe of it.

Sexercise is the low point imo. Up until that point I felt Kylie had kept things classy and not gone the desperate, Madonna trying-to-be-young and scandalous route. I hated the video with a passion.

I agree that the album quality gets judged on its chart performance. For me it’s much better than Golden. I didn’t love Kylie’s “I went to Nashville for two weeks” phase.

For me its not the chart performance, if i was basing things on chart performance i wouldnt be a fan of Impossible Princess which i love, i have always just struggled with KMO in general and i know i have been negative about the album but its not that i want to be, i have tried so many times but i just cant connect with it in general although i am going to try listening to the songs seperatly like someone suggested along with other kylie tracks to see if that makes any difference.

Do you think it's the same reason Kylie has more or less forgotten she released the album.
