God, the title gave me the same impression too when I read it!

 

I predicted no.26 for Chase & Status.

I don't think One Direction's song will hit #1, unless it's a low sales week where you can get there easily (or the song is insanely catchy).

 

But it's also not going to be the end of their career when it misses #1, just fyi.

There's quite a few releases that could do well that week - Pro Green, Nina Nesbitt and AlunaGeorge (and Clean Bandit? I can dream) being the main ones, but there's no chance of them outselling One Direction sadly

 

(although maybe 1D could face some competition from former #1 artists Diana Vickers, Scouting for Girls and Roll Deep :lol:)

Yeah, and Gotta Be You didn't get to #1 either. But then Little Things did without pre-orders and a mid-week release lol. So it's hard to tell, it'll depend on what the song sounds like I think.
