Posted June 30, 201312 yr It's not very often when children and teenagers make the charts, other than Gabz (14 years old) and Willow (9 years old at the time of release) can you think of any other examples? Of course let's not forget the infamous examples, St Winifred's School Choir and Young Jimmy Osmond
June 30, 201312 yr I think Jimmy Osmond or Donny Osmond (I'm unsure which) was 9 years old and got to #1!
June 30, 201312 yr Gabz will be the second artist younger than me to make the top 10. Officially getting old.
June 30, 201312 yr Author I forgot about that song  I loved it back in the day, I was surprised that he was as young as 5 :o
June 30, 201312 yr "Groovy Baby" was a No. 29 hit in 1969, and the singer Microbe (Ian Doody) was just 3 years old at the time. The undisputed youngest person to ever chart.
June 30, 201312 yr LeAnn Rimes was 14 when "How Do I Live" went to #7 in the UK I believe. Charlotte Chruch was like 12? When her debut album went to #4 in the UK album chart and was 14 when "Just Wave Hello" became her first top 40 hit.
June 30, 201312 yr If you want to be technical, The youngest person to ever APPEAR on a top 40 hit is Jessica Smith who did the little baby giggle at the start of Teletubbies Say Eh Oh, a number 1 in 1997. She wasn't actually credited and her actual age isn't known, but it surely couldn't have been more than one year old! I think the youngest female ever to chart at all is Natalie Casey, who was three when her track 'Chick Chick Chicken' charted at number 74 in 1984. (I did get those from everyhit.com ftr, I'm not creepy like that) Edited June 30, 201312 yr by Chez Wombat
June 30, 201312 yr S Club Juniors/8...first pop group to have their first three singles go in at number 2! True to S Club form as always of entering at #2...I think Hannah was the youngest of them at the time wasn't she? Aaron was the oldest cause he was off doing GCSEs by the time they were killed off with that lame I Dream thing. Billie Piper is still the youngest female solo to debut at #1 as far as I'm aware.
June 30, 201312 yr Not the youngest (she was 15), but I'll take any chance to post this gem: dDwKPGUIVME
June 30, 201312 yr Something mildly awful like Lena Zavaroni or even worse Natalie Casey. And the best & most famous, Helen Shapiro & she definately beats Billie Piper for a #1 single in August 1961 at 14. Then there's also the young lady at the end of "The Land Of Make Believe" (who was a regular on Radio One's Playground programme) before Radio One was a playground! June 30, 201312 yr Jordy's Dur Dur d'etre Bebe was a huge hit in Europe and also big in the US, surprised to see it didn't chart in the UK at all.
June 30, 201312 yr From my retro # 1 thread : http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/479964/Claire%20Friends.jpg TWte2_oDsX0 Claire and Friends were a British one-hit wonder, consisting of Stockport schoolgirl Claire Usher and her friends. Their one hit was the novelty record “It’s ‘Orrible Being In Love (When You’re Eight and a Half)”, released by BBC records, which entered the United Kingdom singles chart Top 20 on 7 June 1986, reached No. 13. The song, about the emotional impact that an infatuation with a fellow school pupil has on an eight and a half year old, consisted of several verses on this theme, with a chorus as follows: It’s ‘orrible being in love when you’re eight ‘n ‘arf. I got your picture on me wall Got your name upon me scarf Oh it’s ‘orrible being in love, ‘orrible being in love when you’re eight ‘n ‘arf. The boy in the song was named Jimmy, though on TV performances the scarf actually bore the name Steven, as Claire had borrowed it from her brother. The song, written and produced by Mick Coleman (who, as one half of duo Brian and Michael, was also responsible for the 1978’s number 1 hit “Matchstick Men and Matchstick Cats and Dogs”) originated from a talent-spotting feature on the children’s television programme "Saturday Superstore", where it beat a thousand other entries. This was followed by a second single, “Superman” (which continued the story from the original hit) and an album, mostly of cover versions with a few further originals by Coleman, entitled “Super Claire”, neither of which had the same commercial success.
June 30, 201312 yr Scnappi was only 5 years old when "Scnappi" made the top 40 in 2005. aUc8ACrVPX4 If I were a crocodile, I would DIE from HUNGER hunting for a fly for days! Actually if I were a crocodile, I would successfuly hunting for those big fishes at least. What does Schnappi think of her song now? Does she want to continue her singing career?
June 30, 201312 yr Not the youngest (she was 15), but I'll take any chance to post this gem: dDwKPGUIVME she was FIFTEEN when she sang that song???? oh my good lord! talent beyond her years~
June 30, 201312 yr The very forgotten George Sampson - Get Up on the Dance Floor/Headz Up charted at #30 - he was either 14 or 15 I believe.
June 30, 201312 yr I know Billie Piper was only 15 when Because We Want To went straight to #1, got a soft spot for that track, its a guilty pleasure of mine, grabs my anorak.
