What's with all this Lana Dull Rey crap that's taking up the last few pages of the iTunes thread? Ew.

Hopefully 'It's Time' can get a sudden boost into the top 20 very soon!

59p, one year since this went to #1 and now there's gonna be a rainwave in london if the papers are telling the truth :drama:

Leona #70 in the combined chart? :cheer: Should definitely re-enter the top 100 come Sunday. :D
Those few "bells & whistles" are what's actually making it a hit :kink:

IMO, if the original had been given the promo that this remix has been getting, it would become a hit anyway.

Personally I think Cedric made a good contribution to the song. Not anyone can 'add a few bells & whistles' to a track. Cedric Gervais is a respected DJ.

For me, it's hard to swallow the words 'respected' and 'DJ' in the same sentence.

There should a separate term to distinguish between the brainless inane bablers of radio shows, and the Calvin Harris's etc who actually do something creative with music!

1. The original wouldn't have been a top 40 hit by itself, the remix is more commercial and appeals to fans of the dance music scene - plus the fact that it's only a few months old whereas the original was available to download 2 years ago

2. Well believe it or not people like DJs at the moment, and Cedric has been big in the underground dance music scene.

3. What has this got to do with anything?!? Cedric is not a 'brainless inane babler of radio shows' if that's what you were trying to suggest.

1. True, but it hasn't been actively promoted before.

2. I think you missed my point?

3. You *definitely* did! I was trying to distinguish between radio DJ's, and people like Cedric, Calvin, Tiesto, etc. My comment was saying that I considered the latter catogery OK.

 34. Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix) - Lana Del Rey

This is only going one way.......... :cheer:

Ke$ha still slaying that top 30!

Weird how Capital or Radio 1 haven't playlisted this

1. True, but it hasn't been actively promoted before.

I'll refer you to my previous post:

(Anyway, Cedric clearly should be credited, the remix is the song being pushed and is contributing to the majority of the sales. The song would hardly be selling anything without the remix - look at National Anthem. Blue Jeans and Ride hardly did much either so why would Summertime Sadness be any different?)

I remember Blue Jeans having quite a lot of promo but that only managed a peak of 32. While I really like Summertime Sadness, I don't see why it would do so much better than her previous two post album singles, especially as this is being released over a year after the album.

The original of Summertime Sadness is MUCH better IMO, whereas with Spectrum the remix was a huge improvement on an already amazing song, but then it is probably my 2nd favourite Lana song, if not my actual favourite, so that was hard to beat. The remix is still very good though!

It's on the music channels every 5 minutes though :drama:

Crazy Kids should convince radios that there is still some life left in Ke$ha and hopefully get them on board with supporting single #4 if we get one. It would have been a surefire top 20/10 hit with even an ounce of good radio support.

Brilliant for Lana there though. Hope it can turn into a hit and become her biggest post-album single (by some distance given how the rest of them performed).

Problem is its only top 30 because its 59p. if it was 99p I doubt it would be in the iTunes top 200.

Maybe there's a hot weather connection? :)

It'd be great to hear/see Lana back in the official top 40 so I hope it does hang on over the week(end).

I really can't get into the "Summertime Sadness" remix, it just seems like a cheap b-side with a drop tacked onto the original while Calvin Harris obviously cared about "Spectrum" and it had far greater crossover appeal. I'm prepared to eat my words if it's huge but I still won't like it.

I do feel for both "Ride" and "Never Let Me Go" here though. Both brilliant, both overlooked.
