I'm still not sure what she sings in the chorus

I am the tiger, the ....

Dancing in the fire

Cause I am a Champion

And you're gonna hear me roar

What is supposed to be on the ... Does anybody know?

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire

Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar

Louder, louder than a lion

Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar

Oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh oh

You're gonna hear me roar

I don't like the lyric video. I rarely watch them anyway though. The one for "Wide Awake" was genius though.

Thanks Theo! Literally been thinking about it for ages and I always heard Fire instead of Fighter

Katy Perry has spoken about the inspiration behind her new single 'Roar'.

The 'Firework' star revealed that the track is inspired by her time in therapy since the release of her last album Teenage Dream.

She also described the new single - the first to be taken from her upcoming album Prism - as a "self-empowering type of song".

She told Radio 1's Scott Mills: "I wrote it because I was sick of keeping all these feelings inside and not speaking up for myself, which caused a lot of resentment.

"Obviously I've been through a lot of therapy since my last record and that's what this is about."

This is excellent and that chorus I adore. Oh my goodness at the chorus especially towards the end when it's gets more fab by the seconds.

In terms of choruses for me

Roar >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Applause

Both are really rather awesome though so it's very tough to call it.

I think Katy will get no.1 more than Gaga though.

Katy in Therapy?

I'd rather she went to therapy than went off the rails like other young successful females *cough* Amanda Bynes.

I wonder what for though. I mean she wasnt behaving out of control or anything like that, was she?

She did have a divorce to get over, that can take its toll on someone.

I think it was the fact she was in the middle of a very public divorce and still being a massive deal in the charts/pop world. She is one of the biggest pop stars in the world so it was going to take it's toll at some point. But like someone said, i'd rather have her in therapy than go "off the rails".
Katy is still (by quite a bit too! :o) ahead of GaGa on iTunes. However, I can see GaGa stans streaming the shit out of 'Applause'.

Gaga already decreasing in USA, :o i'm seriously shocked.

Katy has no.1's in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand :o

I love both songs. When I next go out, I think I'll go more crazy for applause in the bars and clubs - but for home/car/iPod listening Roar wins.
I love how this song appeals to adults too! She needs to keep releasing songs with a wide appeal like this

There's nothing even remotely personal about the lyrics as she claims (it's just the usual series of clichés) but I have to say I'm loving this. Her best lead single by a mile. Very uplifting. If it had a proper middle 8 it'd be greater still.
