July 24, 201313 yr Good chart week I'd say. Avicii still looking to continue it's rightful reign at #1 while former #1s are all getting decent Now boosts. Unsure who'll be #1 in the album charts. Selena Gomez on the first update perhaps? Robin Thicke and Jay-Z must still be looking to sell 10-15k this week, so it's just a matter of whether or not Gomez can sell that. Her two '& the Scene' albums must've debuted in the T10 with at least 10k+ each surely? Maybe - the 3 albums I have listed for her, all peaked between 12 & 15, so 10k-ish sounds around the mark.
July 24, 201313 yr A little off-topic so apologies but... What would happen if you bought 20 songs individually from NOW 85? Would it let you buy more than 13 tracks? Then if you completed your album, would it give you money back? I'm not gonna try it but just now-curious. I'm pretty certain it wouldn't give you money back for completing your album. I think it stops letting your complete the album a little bit before that but not certain about that. The 'Complete My Album' feature is broken anyway, it doesn't even give me that option half the time.
July 24, 201313 yr I disagree. I've not heard One Direction's song yet, but I'd simply support the song I liked the most. I agree. There are some very good songwriters out there that don't have the ability to release the tracks themselves. On saying that, I have heard One Direction's new single and whilst it's not completely terrible, I would prefer Avicii to remain number one.
July 24, 201313 yr Midweek Charts: Avicii aiming to deny One Direction by Paul Willams Avicii looks likely to prevent One Direction's Best Song Ever debuting at No 1 in the UK after opening up a 60% sales lead with Wake Me Up. Having debuted at the top last Sunday with 266,524 sales to achieve the biggest retail tally of the year, the Positiva/PRMD-issued Wake Me Up now looks comfortably placed to make it two weeks at No 1 this coming weekend, according to Official Charts Company data. By the end of Tuesday the track had shifted around another 70,000 units, putting it about 25,000 sales ahead of Syco's brand new One Direction single, which shows up as a new entry at 2 in the latest midweeks. Best Song Ever is one of only two brand new tracks to register among the Top 40 positions in the week to date with the other, Island act Nina Nesbitt's Way In The World, down in 39th place. Robin Thicke's Interscope/Polydor track Blurred Lines with TI and Pharrell Williams drops 2-3 in the week so far, while two other former No 1s just below it also fall a place. Island act John Newman's Love Me Again is down to 4 and Icona Pop's Atlantic-issued I Love It featuring Charli XCX drops to 5 as Naughty Boy's Virgin chart-topper La La La with Sam Smith holds at 6. Nettwerk act Passenger's Let Her Go is subject to a revival with weekly sales up 22% to lift it 10-7, while will.i.am's Interscope/Polydor single Bang Bang is down 5-8 and the Virgin-issued Reload by Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash with John Martin declines 7-9. Meanwhile, Columbia act Daft Punk are aiming to return to the Top 10 with Get Lucky featuring Pharrell Williams up 11-10. X Factor 2013 runner-up Jahmene Douglas has opened up a narrow lead at the top of the artist albums midweeks with his brand new RCA debut Love Never Fails, but it is currently being outsold by more than 16 copies to one by the week's top album seller overall, the newly-issued Now! 85 compilation put out by Universal and the franchise's new partner Sony. The hits album has to date sold 133,775 copies this week. On the artist album rankings Douglas is only a few thousand sales ahead of Robin Thicke's Interscope/Polydor set Blurred Lines, which debuted at No 1 last Sunday but drops to 2 in the midweeks. Jay Z's Roc Nation/Virgin EMI album Magna Carta Holy Grail is down 2-3, while Nettwerk's Passenger progresses 5-4 with All The Little Lights as Hollywood/Polydor's Selena Gomez is aiming for a first UK Top 10 album with Stars Dance new at 5 in the week to date. Her current peak is 12, achieved with the 2009 Hollywood/Polydor album Kiss & Tell with The Scene. Rod Stewart's Capitol/Decca album Time looks like extending its stay in the Top 10 to 11 straight weeks as it falls 4-6 in the midweeks, while Reprise/Warner Bros's Michael Buble falls 6-7 with To Be Loved. Mumford & Sons' second Gentlemen Of The Road/Island album Babel is down 7-8 as Jake Bugg's self-titled Mercury debut regains a place to 9 and Asylum/Atlantic's Rudimental are back up 11-9 with Home. Hey Hello, the latest project from former Wildhearts member Ginger Wildheart and realised through Pledgemusic, is new at 12 in the midweeks with a self-titled albuim on the Round label. The venture features Victoria Liedke and Wildheart plays all the instruments. Capturing them playing in the royal park for the first time since 1969, The Rolling Stones' newly-issued Polydor album Hyde Park Live is new at 15 in the midweeks, while the only other brand new release among the Top 40 sellers is F**k Buttons' Slow Focus at 30 and issued by ATP Recordings. =================================================== Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Avicii (70k) 2 One Direction * (45k) :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: 3 Robin Thicke/T.I./Pharrell 4 John Newman 5 Icona Pop/Charli XCX 6-10 7 Passenger 10 Daft Punk/Pharrell Williams 11-20 16 Olly Murs 17 P!nk/Lily Allen 19 Arctic Monkeys 20 Calvin Harris/Ayah Marar 21-30 23 Fuse ODG 25 Macklemore/Ryan Lewis/Ray Dalton 26 Rudimental/Ella Eyre 29 Demi Lovato 30 Ke$ha/will.i.am 31-40 33 Imagine Dragons 34 Mariah Carey/Miguel 37 Bastille 38 Toploader ^ 39 Nina Nesbitt * Top 100 44 Scouting For Girls * 46 Diana Vickers * 53 Lauren Aquilina * 60 Professor Green * 89 Emma Blackery * (source: OCC Twitter) http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/updatesingles/print =================================================== Top 40 Albums 1 Jahméne Douglas * (2.5k ahead) (outsold by Now! 85 16 copies to one) 2 Robin Thicke 3 Jay-Z 4 Passenger 5 Selena Gomez * 6-10 9 Jake Bugg 10 Rudimental 11-20 12 Hey Hello * 15 The Rolling Stones * 21-30 22 Gabrielle Aplin 29 One Direction ^ (g'won) 30 F*ck Buttons * 31-40 40 Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros * http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/updatealbums/print * new entry ^ re-entry Edited July 24, 201313 yr by JosephVickers1D
July 24, 201313 yr I know we're about to find this out, but... Is it Mothers Day or something? Jahmene's album is number 1 in the midweeks. @stefanatical (He works at Warner and I know him so it's legit!)
July 24, 201313 yr Jahmene #1? Sales must be very low. Hopefully Jay-Z gets it back by the end of the week.
July 24, 201313 yr Toploader :music: So refreshing to hear this especially after that boring Nina Nesbitt song.
July 24, 201313 yr Jahméne getting a #1 album? :manson: :manson: :manson: Where has he even been getting support? I thought his iTunes floppage meant we were going to be safe... :( Although looking at iTunes he's now overtaken Selena even there. No idea what they 'Hey Hello' thing at #12 is but I'm somehow assuming that it has something to do with Ginger Wildheart :P EDIT: Yeah it does, it is mentioned in the OCC report. July 24, 201313 yr PSB nowhere to be seen? How can someone's sales drop that hard? JESUS EDIT: Old link, sorry #17 is not very good either but two weeks in top 30 anyway Edited July 24, 201313 yr by SKOB
July 24, 201313 yr Jahméne getting a #1 album? :manson: :manson: :manson: Where has he even been getting support? I thought his iTunes floppage meant we were going to be safe... :( Although looking at iTunes he's now overtaken Selena even there. Has he been unleashed on us already?
July 24, 201313 yr PSB nowhere to be seen? How can someone's sales drop that hard? JESUS They're No. 17. And Jahméne, well he climbed all the way to No. 2 on amazon today, which means he has the best selling artist album there, so the good position is not that big surpise. And the album is priced at £ 7.00, so that might also help to get him some extra sales.
July 24, 201313 yr Didn't expect Jahméne Douglas to be number 1, it will be interesting to see what sales lead he has. There is a part of me that is happy for him, he seemed like a genuine nice person on X Factor and i liked his voice, his music isn't my style buy good luck to the chap. Pet Shop Boys were always inevitable for the big drop but i expected worse, i would be ever so delighted if they manage 2 weeks in the top 20. As expected Avicii well a ahead of One Direction but its a cert both will sell in big numbers so winners all round.
July 24, 201313 yr Jahméne getting a #1 album? :manson: :manson: :manson: Where has he even been getting support? I thought his iTunes floppage meant we were going to be safe... :( Although looking at iTunes he's now overtaken Selena even there. I think he was performing 2 songs on 'This Morning' today. That'll be another wee boost.
July 24, 201313 yr Author Last week's sales for Avicii was 153k+ that's over 50% drop taking pre-orders in consideration last week, probably around 160-170k for this week. Friday's update should give us a better picture of his sales. Jahmene's album at #1 :manson: the heatwave must have hit the sheep.
July 24, 201313 yr I know I said this last week and it turned out the top 2 albums did comfortably over 20k but I really doubt the same will be the case this week, so 2.5k is quite a lot in such a low sales climate. I imagine he'll hold on. Plus he appeals to an older audience and acts like that tend to hold up better at the end of the week. Just hoping for a swift descent from the chart... Lots to update in the X Factor chart thread after this week - 1D, Diana and Jahméne this week alone. Avicii's sales haven't held up as well as I thought they would, he'll still sell around 160k or so this week which is still very good but a bit of a big dropoff from last week. I would have predicted at the start of the week that he'd still be around the 200k mark. Woop for Daft Punk, Olly, Arctics, Imagine Dragons and Bastille climbing today and Calvin making the top 20. Daft Punk and Passenger seem to be reaping the benefits of the Now! ad despite being album-only. Edited July 24, 201313 yr by Bré
July 24, 201313 yr Official Charts have tweeted that Scouting for Girls are at #44 and Diana Vickers is at #46! :D
