Ugh 45 000 bought that awful song already? :S Hopefully it starts to massively fall this week and fall down to #8 or so next week! Good thing is Avicii is way out in front. But I thought he was meant to be selling 3-1 :/

B-)

As much as that would make my year I don't see the track having a short chart run, the physical copy gets released August 19th and with the movie as well I see this having a very odd chart run with a good 20 place drop somewhere hehe!!

DAMN @ 1D spoiling a potentially amazing top 5. :(

What a JAHMAZING album No1! :mansoncheer: :mansoncheer: :mansoncheer:

Time to merge the artist and compilations album charts. Excellent sales for Now 85 considering the time of year.

Avicii should be on track for ~130-150k this week. A large drop off, but to be expected with his huge pre-orders making it very frontloaded last week. Jahmene #1 is no surprise and I hope he can stay there.

P!nk climbing and Avril holding on a lot better than I thought! Mariah's "#Beautiful" is still holding on really nicely too! I really hope Avril/Mariah are reduced to 59p, would love both songs to stick around a bit more.

LOL at Jahmene on track for a number 1. Will probably break records for biggest drop from the top spot next week if he makes it.

I don't think he could pull off 1-29. He's still playlisted on Radio 2 and with low sales, I doubt he'll fall out of the top 20.

"X Factor 2013 runner-up Jahmene Douglas has opened up a narrow lead at the top of the artist albums midweeks with his brand new RCA debut Love Never Fails, but it is currently being outsold by more than 16 copies to one by the week's top album seller overall, the newly-issued Now! 85 compilation put out by Universal and the franchise's new partner Sony. The hits album has to date sold 133,775 copies this week."

133,775 divided by 16 = 8360 sales so far this week for Jahmene. Not to mention the fact that the above quote says "more than 16 copies", and those sales include pre-orders.

Marcus Collins got to number 7 with 24,343 sales, which will almost certainly be more than Jahmene Douglas sells by the end of this week. I, for one, would rather Jahmene didn't get to number one, purely because he didn't even bother to record one original song for the album. Full of covers. Very lazy release.

Oh, was Marcus' album released on Mother's Day week or something? 24k seems pretty high for a #7 outside of Q4 in recent years. I suppose that means Jahméne isn't really doing better than Marcus, just taking advantage of a much quieter week. Don't think he'll pass 20k this week if he's on <9k so far.
Well, as Mark McKenzie put it in a YouTube comment...

"Emotionally powerful, haunting, classical gospel cover of Titanium, Jahmene... Sorry to David Guetta fans but I think Titanium will, from now on, be known as Jahmene Douglas's massive hit, not Guetta's... And, Jahmene, such a moving clip of a couple in an abusive relationship, the woman scared to death by the man, absolutely hard-hitting... Yes, there could have been more in it but it gets the message across... Superb job, once again Jahmene... JAHMAZING!!! :-)"

Methinks Mark McKenzie should expect a visit from the drugs squad. The chances of a cover of a song that sold a million being considered the definitive version are remote in the extreme. Even if it is released as a single and sells a million it will surely be thought of as a Guetta song. After all, who performed the definitive version of Unchained Melody - Gareth Gates, Robson & Jerome or the Righteous Brothers?

How is Edward Sharpe FINALLY taking off here? Do hope Home can go top 40 this week, the album ought to be a top 10 hit too.

The song is on an advert and has apparently been sent back to radio to capitalise off of that rather than bothering to promote anything from their new album.

Midweek Charts update: Avicii sells another 100,000 singles

Source: MW

by Paul Willams

Avicii's Wake Me Up has already sold another 100,000 copies in the UK this week after debuting at No 1 last Sunday with 2013's highest sales figures.

The Positiva/PRMD single is a certainty to top the chart again this weekend having shifted a further 107,492 copies by the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company. That gives it a lead of nearly 50,000 units over its closest rival, One Direction's newly-issued Syco single Best Song Ever.

Wake Me Up sold 266,528 copies last week, the highest tally so far this year, while its cumulative UK total is on course to be above 400,000 by the end of this week just a fortnight after being released.

Below Avicii and One Direction, the rest of the Top 10 rehsuffle around in the week to date, including Interscope/Polydor act Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines with TI and Pharrell Williams falling 2-3, Island act John Newman's Love Me Again down 3-4 and Icona Pop's Atlantic single I Love It with Charli XCX down 4-5.

The newly-issued Now! 85's sales are already up to 220,828 this week, almost as many as what the Top 100 artist albums have managed combined over the same timeframe. Issued by Universal and its new Now! partner Sony, it appears on course to beat the first-week sales of the equivalent 2012 album, Now! 82, which started with 267,618 takers.

Managing little more than one-seventeenth of Now! 85's sales is X Factor 2012 runner-up Jahmene Douglas's RCA debut Lover Never Fails, which currently leads midweek artist albums. Robin Thicke's Interscope/Polydor set Blurred Lines drops 1-2, the Roc Nation/Virgin EMI-issued Magna Carta Holy Grail by Jay Z is down 2-3, Nettwerk's Passenger is up 5-4 with All The Little lights and Rod Stewart eases 4-5 with his Capitol/Decca set Time.
