I highly doubt that Lana will sell 50,000 next week.

Well the top 4 over 400k each is unlikely too

Just gave 'Loving You' a listen - it's not actually bad at all. Very reminiscent of 'When You're Gone'. It being a surprise top 10 hit would be extremely hilarious/shocking. I bet Cowell would be stunned.

Just heard it for the first time and I agree it's not bad. Hopefully will beat 'Roar' to #1 (If its released tomorrow).

Wow! Wasn't expecting Gaga to be doing so badly, she is down to 0.3 now on Kworb. I think she will go in at 6 officially tomorrow.

It's OA/OS and only just been added to radio so its actually doing great and with the video out on monday it's gonna do a lot better next week...

People were saying the same for "Born this way" but the video didn't do much for it, while the hype around it was a lot bigger than it is for "Applause".

You keep telling yourself that :P

I just don't see the video having that big impact. I can see it go to say #3 on Itunes again, but falling back through the week for a 2nd week at #5 or 6 in the actual chart.

Um, it did propel it back into the top 5 for a couple of weeks and really helped out with its longevity. It would have been out of the top 10 in its 4th week if it didn't have a video. I think the video will help the song stick around longer and perhaps help it with a new peak next week.

'Applause' most certainly will be sticking around. People on forums and blogs etc.. hype Gaga to their own levels. It's either over hyped or not hyped enough. I think it's doing great in all honesty. People seem to be forgetting it's OA/OS. Pretty sure 'Bad Romance' was set to flop, before that Xfactor performance, wasn't it? Was that OA/OS? (I can't remember). 'Born This Way' may have ubder performed, but it most certainly wasn't a flop.
Some of these haters (Hayzey, sammy, shaneyboy) insist on Applause being a flop all the time yet never acknowledge that it's OA/OS and the situation with it and Born This Way are completely different. You guys keep telling yourself it's a flop, logically it isn't.

How are they different? 'Born This Way' was OA/OS as well :P

Lol at how defensive the Gaga loons are getting now.

OA/OS works fine for Rihanna. So either Gaga is no Rihanna or Applause just isn't good enough.

Rihanna could release a song of farts and it would still go to #1.

And yet after about thirty odd hits she's still only had 7 no.1s......

And 7 #2s  But her lead singles normally go to #1 with an OA/OS release.

The thing with Rihanna is that she always (well more or less always) delivers quality hits without all of the contrived, OTT hype. 'We Found Love' (IIRC) just came out of nowhere and the quality of the track made it sell. I *think* the same happened with 'Diamonds' too. GaGa has decent songs but they'll never match up to the ridiculous hype and therefore will never be received extremely well.

The difference is, this literally was OA/OS. Bar her tweeting about it she didnt have time to get airplay built up (not even a day!) At least Katy's had nearly 2 weeks of airplay before releasing (providing she releases tonight of course) & mostly positive reaction. I can't remember if BTW was like 'Applause' though (released the day it premiered).

I just think people are jumping the gun far too soon to brand it a "flop". An undrr performance, maybe. But I honestly don't think it's under performing too badly atm. I guess it's just GaGa's profile so it's going to get some attention.

I'm surprised people on here still declare OA/OS releases flops after only a few days. The whole point is that they are meant to stick around for longer as people start hearing them. No wonder the UK rarely releases OA/OS when people who actually follow charts and should know how it works declare the releases flops so quickly

Applause may turn out to be a flop but my point is it is far too early to tell.

Nearly 2 weeks of airplay? "Roar" leaked a week ago. :P And yeah, "Born This Way" was released on the same day as the premiere.

I don't get why people mention "Bad Romance" so much either because she was still building herself up at that point and didn't have loads of hype leading up to the release, "Applause" may get a bit of a video boost but I can't see it taking off in the way the fans want it to.

Except I'm not saying it's flopping.

I'm saying we could have excpected a lot better from Gaga, and that so far it doesn't look like it's going to set the charts on fire.

I'm only judging the early (counter-)performance of the song, of course it can all change, but I have doubts it will.
