So 2.30 hours since the video dropped and Gaga still at #9, can one of her stans give me a time frame on when the video will start making this smash

Earthquake needs to peak at #3 like Harlem Shake and Trampoline.

Yeah, I still can't believe The Power didn't do better. Features Dizzee, and it's the poppiest of all his singles, and was following from Hot Right Now.

Do you reckon? I think The Power is DJ Fresh's noisiest and least commercial sounding tracks, it's a bit of a mess in my opinion. Althought Louder and Hot Right Now were lite dubstep/dnb tracks (and the first of their kind to properly hit the mainstream), they sound far more commercial than the Dizzee track.

I really don't like Earthquake though, the girl's vocals annoy me and the drop is just a bit too much for me. It sounds too disjointed.

Yeah, although it's the only one of his singles that I think you could really call pop. The rest, even if they're catchy and have strong melodies, are all specific genres that don't usually see much commercial success.

And I think a song being loud makes it more commercial to be honest. It's the minimal songs that are less commercial.

Two days, biatch :P

Be careful what you're saying there, Emeli might end up like this next era.

Yep, just ask the likes of Duffy and Dido.

I think his two biggest singles are very much pop singles, obviously with underground influences though. The Power is pop as well but doesn't have that commercial sound that Louder/Hot Right Now/The Feeling do.

The Power/Gold Dust/Earthquake aren't quite so poppy, as they don't really fit the pop formula. They're certainly a lot less commercial sounding which is why they don't appeal to radio so much.

Except they are amazing and Emeli is not.

Yeah. Hot Right Now, for example, is catchy and radio friendly, but it is drum & bass. It's not just drum & bass influenced, it actually is drum & bass. It fits all the characteristics of the genre. Same with all of Rudimental's singles too.

Well, even from her current album, Daddy was less successful than Applause (unfortunately, I still think it's a great song).

I cant see Gaga doing a great deal better this week TBH. I dont think we will see her at the top for this single. Seems like she is having a bit of a melt down judging by what was in the papers this morning.

Only time will tell but I think we have seen the best form Gaga.

What was in the papers today??

And how amazing is that video!! Best all year.

Is that her only song to miss the top 20 then

'might' being the operative word.

Seriously, what's so *amazing* about it?

I do hope not, I think Emeli will probably have get a second number one album and maybe a big single but I think she may end up being an album selling act rather than a single but I see her having a chart career similar to Adele's but I hope she will continue to be successful and I hope the second album is epic but needs to contain less ballads!!

As for Gaga, I think the video could help to a small extent but she will only finish about 8/9 by Sunday which would still be pretty bad given that Born This Way entered at 3 on 24 hours worth of sales but this track had 4 days and only got to 5 but we will see as I know the album will be huge so I'm sure the record company will want to focus on that!

I do agree, I think she'll shift more album copies as opposed to singles with the new album, and become an album selling act (which is practically what she has been with Our Version of Events). Although don't say there needs to be less ballads, there were 10 ballads of 19 tracks on the album :kink:, an alright balance of up-tempo songs and ballads, if I do say so myself. If she sticks with something similar to that, the next album could be just as successful.

Emeli should stick with what works for her so i can see it being an OVOE Part. II...It isnot a bad thing her first album was great! :)

Exactly, although I think there'll be a slight change in sound, depending on who she's working with. She'll probably still be working with Naughty Boy on the album for the most part, but she's reaching out to new collaborators, e.g. Wyclef Jean on the new EP, etc.

On an unrelated note, your sig...
