YES DRAKE :cheer: PLEASE hold onto that top 2.

Jason's album much higher than I thought and even though her first album underperformed I'm still quite surprised at how low Birdy is - especially that she's behind CHVRCHES (fab midweek for them anyway).

Without even knowing sales, Kings of Leon would appear to have the #1 album in the bag. Wouldn't be surprised if Jessie J overtook Drake but I very much doubt she'll over take Kings of Leon now. Hopefully some very good sales for the Top 3 though, plus it would be nice for the next 3 new entries to all remain Top 10 come Sunday.

Not great seeing no big new entries this week after having a few last week. Happy that 'The Wire' is looking to remain Top 20 - certainly to be their highest peaking single. I've listened to their album and it's very good indeed!

Capital Cities at #28, this should actually make the top 40 after all! I still can't believe how the UK release of this has been handled. :manson:

Did you really think otherwise before? 'Mechanical Bull' is up there with the most obvious #1 albums of the year.

OCC don't make it sound like it's miles ahead, mind you:

"While sales remain incredibly close at this mid-way stage, Kings Of Leon have taken an early lead with their sixth album Mechanical Bull (Number 1)."

Can't believe Birdy is only #7.

I expected KoL & JJ to beat her (plus perhaps AM), but how could 3 others, too?!

Not really, I was expecting strong competition although I'm certainly not shocked to see them at #1. I'd say the only obvious #1s would be David Bowie, Justin Timberlake and Arctic Monkeys.

CHVRCHES should hopefully remain top 10 by Sunday, which is pretty good considering they're still relatively low profile. Seeing them behind Jason Derulo makes me just a little bit sick...

Her first album didn't even go top 10 off the back of a much bigger single so there wasn't exactly a huge precedent for this album to do well. Having said that I did think she'd be at least top 5 today before falling to 7-9 on Sunday.

Delighted that Ben Pearce is comfortably inside the top ten. :cheer:

Excellent stuff for Drake and CHVRCHES in the album chart. ‘Nothing Was The Same’ surely has an outside chance of overhauling Kings Of Leon, while I hope ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ can at least hold on at six. :D

As long as Jessie J isn't no.1 I'm happy. *cue hater comments.

I'm surprised Radio 1 didn't playlist it but that aside it's been doing alright. A-list on Radio 2 and regular Heart airplay, it's had as much pre-release exposure as something like Moves Like Jagger, I guess it just didn't really connect with the British public like loads of other European chart toppers that crawl into the top 30/40 here (Satellite, Alors On Danse, One Day/Reckoning Song, Waka Waka etc...)

I didn't think it was such a foregone conclusion, they're not exactly big any more.

They may not be as big as they were in the 'Only By The Night' era but they definitely are still big, they've just shifted back into being an albums act. Although even then, their singles from this era haven't done too badly for a rock act.

Also, the album was in the top 10 on iTunes just before release on pre-orders alone (behind Drake but well ahead of Jessie).

Great album chart, another big clear out but again I reckon we will end up with 5 new entries as Dream Theatre will fall out

Fantastic result for Ben Pearce, I hope he can hold onto number 6 but anywhere top 10 would be a result! Otherwise nothing that exciting this week just hoping Roar could cause an upset and climb back up to number one but it won't happen!

I'm expecting Drake to beat them by Sunday, he's been number one on iTunes most of the week but Kings of Leon will do well on physicals...either way its going to be a close one I don't see either act shifting any more than 65-75k

I'm pretty shocked by how well Drake's doing, I expected him to be Top 5 but didn't realise he had enough of a fanbase to be a #1 contender!
