Would love to see One republic get the no1 but it is unlikely. Loved the ever since 'All the right moves'. Can't decide whether or not Dizzee is over or under performing. Shocked about Haim. Do they or JT have any promo that could swing it this week.

Yeah, the problem with the Two Door song if anything is that it's very similar to their other stuff. They've always been pretty electronic, which is presumably why they were on a dance label until now.
Not just one contestant but two in a row.

Oh dear :drama: I had assumed that Emeli Sande performed Clown at the Stephen Lawrence concert but I've just seen it and they only showed Next To Me. Is that XF as well?

Yep!

It's clearly not much of a 'problem' when it's going to be their highest peaking single!

I'm not saying they weren't at all dancey/electronic before this single but I would say 'Changing Of The Seasons' is quite a lot closer to the general dance-pop sound than any of their previous releases. It is still a Two Door Cinema Club sounding song, but it's very clearly (IMO) an attempt to have a more commercial sound (which seems to be working).

come on onerepublic. it'd be annoying if it missed out on number 1 by a small amount - like Pink being denied by Ant & Dec...
Yep!

Oh joy. It's actually a decent song but it's rather sad that so many people watching what is supposed to be a music based show seem not to have heard it before. Ah well.

Two Door Cinema Club should make the top 40 for the first time then. Groovy Bangor biscuits.

Strange it's only their first top 40 hit!

I assumed HAIM would struggle to outsell The 1975 until "The Wire" slightly outperformed expectations - I'm expecting 40k which would be great for them.

I think it just sounds like an inferior version of Sleep Alone which didn't perform as well cos it was an OAOS release they've always been a more accessible indie band hence r1 a listing all their singles.

As for the chart didn't think The Vamps would be 13k ahead but that's what preorders do compared to natural risers up the chart. Hope CS catches up by Sunday at any rate no1 sales will be 60k or so. With Eminem & Maynards preorder doing the usual big held back single phenomena of rising the top 100 of iTunes the week before release by their position they should both do near 100k first week. No more tho as Derulo & others were much higher at this stage of their preorder.

As for the albums knew Haim would run Justin close it's not the lack of hype it's the lack of stand out single for this album.

Perfect top 2 singles!

What is this shit keeping One Republic from number 1?

Unamused to say the least.

I thought if The Vamps were #1 in the Wednesday mids then it'd be by a small amount so it's outdone my expectations so far. Fingers crossed it can hold on, is up to #5 on iTunes right now (higher than it was at the start of the week) so there's definitely a chance and I can't imagine OneRepublic are selling LOADS.

Midweek Charts update: Haim narrow gap on Timberlake

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

LA band Haim are closing the gap on Justin Timberlake with fewer than 30 sales now separating them at the top of the midweek artist albums chart.

Timberlake's RCA set The 20/20 Experience - 2 Of 2 continues to lead, as it has all week, but its superiority has narrowed from around 700 sales over Haim's Polydor debut Days Are Gone at the beginning of the week to 28 at the end of trading on Thursday, according to Official Charts Company data.

The two albums are among four brand new releases in the Top 10 positions at this stage of the week with Roadrunner act Alter Bridge's new set Fortress at 6 and Dizzee Rascal's Dirtee Skank/Island-issued The Fifth at 9. Dizzee's new single Something Really Bad with will.i.am is new at 10 on midweek singles.

Kings Of Leon's Columbia-handled Mechanical Bull drops to 3 after debuting at No 1 last Sunday, while Domino act Arctic Monkeys' AM holds at 4 and Cash Money/Republic signing Drake's Nothing Was The Same falls 2-5.

Although not as close as albums, the outcome of the singles chart this weekend is far from certain with new UK pop band The Vamps still out in front with the EMI-issued Can We Dance, but their lead is fewer than 6,000 sales as Interscope/Polydor's OneRepublic ramped up the pressure with Counting Stars, which climbs 3-2. Jason Derulo's Warner Bros single Talk Dirty with 2 Chainz falls 1-3 and Virgin signing Katy Perry's former No 1 Roar is down 2-4, while EMI/Virgin EMI's Chase & Status are new at 5 with Count On Me featuring Moko.

NO SALES INFO

So it looks like the lead the Vamps had has more than halved and that OneRepublic will just manage to pass them late on Saturday to record their first number one.
Martin, JT is only 28 copies ahead in the albums ;)
