October 4, 201312 yr Them sales are poor but people are also missing the fact the complete collection has sol a few thousand which would have him comfortably on top if he just release part 2.
October 4, 201312 yr Looks like even my prediction of 40-50k might be a little bit generous for Justin... really not surprised though, nothing is going right for him this era unless 'Holy Grail' counts. I'm sure he'll be massive again if he leaves album five until 2019  Also HAIM look like they will beat London Grammar's opening sales (and probably opening position). Hopefully 'Days Are Gone' can stick around for a while like 'If You Wait' is doing so far.
October 4, 201312 yr ^^New albums popular with todays youth hang around a bit better because of increasing download album popularity whereas fanbase physical buys fall like a brick. So Haim should hold up alrigh they have the advantage of both having a cd fanbase because their songs get played on radio 1 & 2 so both market groups!
October 4, 201312 yr Really want One Republic to go number 1, they are closing the gap fast so i think they may just manage it but it will be close. Justin Timberlake was crazy to release the complete experience as the same time as volume 2 as it could cost him the number 1, the complete experience should have been hed back for at least a month. Either way it looks like a close battle for both number 1 positions this week, it will make the charts very exciting on sunday.
October 4, 201312 yr Does anyone know if there is any promo for any acts which could make difference on both charts. It does seem that JT does not care about chart position with the strategy
October 4, 201312 yr Really want One Republic to go number 1, they are closing the gap fast so i think they may just manage it but it will be close. Given that OR closed up from 13k to 6k in two days, another gain of that magnitude will see them #1, just.
October 4, 201312 yr Wow. Still not 100% sure who'll be #1 this week, but I'd place my bets on OneRepublic since they're closing the gap fast.
October 4, 201312 yr A close race in both the singles and album charts! Really hope HAIM can overtake Justin Timberlake; if the Part 2 version for JT's album is anything like the first then I know I won't like it. HAIM's album is near flawless too. Nice to see Goldfrapp re-entering the Top 40, I'd be happy if this could scrape 60k but I wouldn't bet on it unless it's in the chart over Christmas.
October 4, 201312 yr Closest Number 1 race for a long time, I love weeks like this :D Looks like I'm going to have to write two versions for both singles and albums this week :drama:
October 4, 201312 yr Wow......28 copies that is crazy, though I still think JT's lead could increase tomorrow but number 2 for Haim would be a great result!! And I hope One Republic can increase on that 6k and get to number 1, I just don't understand why all the big releases are out next week and not going for a quiet week like this week...
October 4, 201312 yr Didn't happen with AlunaGeorge though, did it? Indeed there's always an exception, they just didn't take off apart from AF!
October 4, 201312 yr The Vamps have been doing some last minute record signings. They are also encouraging people on Twitter to buy the 59p versions and to also post a pic of them with a copy so the group will do something special in return.
October 4, 201312 yr So close everywhere, OneRepublic will have the download advantage but The Vamps will be doing everything they can on Saturday to try to get that #1, begging, signing, whatever no doubt. As for the albums, having listened to both albums this week I far prefer Haim's (which I subsquently bought), if only I could afford to buy another 30 odd copies of it!
October 4, 201312 yr I bought both albums and Haim's is definitely the better of the two, it's really much better than I'd expected it to be.
October 4, 201312 yr Justin Timberlake's music is atrocious, his singing is abysmal (still sounds like a sheep live all these years on, listen to an Nsync track (or save yourself thr trouble and don't bother) to hear this). I really hope we don't reward this awful music with a number one. Haim are much better. Edit: 1 The Vamps - Can We Dance * (6,000 ahead!) Wut? Edited October 4, 201312 yr by Michael!
October 4, 201312 yr I usually love chart battles like this, but when I care so little about both songs, its harder to care - The Vamps would be a pretty bad number 1 and a complete flash in the pan, which OneRepublic wouldn't, but it would still feel like a really weak number 1. Edited October 4, 201312 yr by Chez Wombat
October 5, 201312 yr i cant see either act keeping the 100,000 sales week going and will fall well short.
October 5, 201312 yr ^^New albums popular with todays youth hang around a bit better because of increasing download album popularity whereas fanbase physical buys fall like a brick. Unfortunately that theory doesn't account for the popularity of Rod Stewart's album... :P
October 5, 201312 yr I am looking forward to the charts tomorrow. Hoping for One republic and JT. Are Saturdays usually known for big sales? If so JT may get albums no1 still. Michael, his music is far from awful. But everyone has an opinion. Looking forward to Tommorows releases already. Hope it's tight all week. Also do people think dizee has over or under achieved in both charts this week?
