That really is quite the drop off from the top 3. Especially telling that AMELIA LILY is too 10.
Olly's Troublemaker, Heart Skips A Beat, Dear Darlin', Thinking Of Me and Dance with Me Tonight would all be top ten if it wasn't just first post singles released.

Olly Murs is probably the most successful X-Factor alumni in terms of singles success now.

This is true, I didn't consider that at all. It does offend me to my very core that he continues to be successful when vastly superior acts are now flopping, but at least it allows some credence to the X Factor notion of producing actual stars.
Bad Boys is incredibly high given I've barely heard anyone play it since 2009 finished! Huge at the time but Alexandra's poppy songs don't seem to last long in people's conciousness.
I think Olly Murs is one of the better acts to come out of X Factor, most of the others with the excemption maybe of Leona lewis is pretty rubbish.

Shayne Ward is such a waste. He is insanely hot, had a really nice voice, he really had all the makings for something big. Was he signed to Louis management? His song choices and release were horrible, I so wanted to like him.

Matt Cardle is pretty much the same (but an even better singer) but he seems to have found his sound now and it is working better for him.

The OCC gave out sales figures voluntarily?

Are they ill - maybe we should send them a 'Get Well Soon' card... :w00t:

Not yet, Leona's still ahead of him in sales. Olly should be on 4-4.1 million total single sales by now. Leona is on about 4.4-4.5 million and will pull ahead a bit more with the release of her Christmas album. Then next year Olly will likely overtake her with the release of his 4th album. Unless Leona's Christmas single(s) do well. She's also got her 4th album out next year and a potential soundtrack album coming out next year to coincide with the movie she's doing too.

Olly Murs has a special edition of 'Right place right time' coming out in November which has new songs and a DVD. No doubt he will release a new single from it to promote it.

I'm sure 'A Moment Like This' has been on ~900k for AGES.

Little Mix' 'Wings' should pass 'Cannonball' pretty soon. Deservedly so too. I don't mind their version of 'Cannonball' but Damien Rice is ultimately better, as is 'Wings'.

Interesting to see songs outside the Top 10 have sold less than about 200k. 'Lighthouse' at #20 is surprising too.

Its clear that being a contestant on the x factor and releasing a single after the hype of being on the show doesn't guarantee big sales. There are clearly a few exceptions with the likes of Leona Lewis.

I'm surprised at how much some of these songs have trickle-sold. For example, I don't know how 20,000-30,000 people have downloaded songs like Swagger Jagger and Once since their release years, when those songs get literally no airplay, no use in TV shows, adverts, video games, no discounts (I think) and so on. Quite impressive imo.

Same with Beat Again by JLS. That's somehow sold over 100,000 in 2010-2013, although that's more understandable, since it did get recurrent airplay on Heart FM and they had many hit singles after that (and I've noticed previous hits get boosts in sales when there's a new hit by the same artist).

I'm so glad that Leona has topped 1D! Nice chart, Jedward is there, my god!
The biggest song from this list, it's the biggest selling post-X Factor debut!!!Finally, there is justice somewhere!!!
Jedward and Marcus Collins are ahead of Joe McElderry, Matt Cardle and Leon Jackson, all of whom's singles were promoted on X Factor with them being returning winners. What.
