I see it, tbh you're right when you say some house tracks are getting more and more airplay and not just in the UK.

There's some hip hop songs out now that use synths that you'd normally find in a house song as well. For example Paranoid by Ty Dolla $ign/B.o.B and Show Me by Kid Ink/Chris Brown. I think the synths in Show Me are sampled from Show Me Love (if not, they're basically identical).

Because it's irrelevant and poop.

I don't think it's because of the song itself. If it was by an artist more in favour with radio stations, it'd probably get a lot more airplay.

I think I've said before, the only time I heard it in real life (apart from on a car radio) was watching the match in a pub when it was becoming like a gay dance theme night or something. They played Cher, that Britney one and a bunch of others and all the songs blended into one, Britney's sounding like the second part of Cher's. Pretty generic, boring stuff. That's why radio wouldn't touch it - it sounds like any other dace track by any other female (that and Britney is no longer seen as very credible here)

Of course house has been popular for decades, but in the last couple of years it has surged in popularity. Tracks like 'Need U (100%)' and 'Sonnentanz' are examples of how it's really taken off.

And yeah, dubstep is definitely dead now.

Great to see Britney Top 5 but it'll no doubt drop fast over the next few days without radio support, hope she can go Top 10 officially though!
1D back up to 7 after falling to 11 because the video premiered at 4. Only a week late :) they really need to learn how to market a single properly.

You only have to look at what *is* on R1's playlists, to know that can't be the reason... :P

Dubstep isn't dead I don't think, it's just that nobody's releasing stuff at the moment. Maybe the vibe it had will kick back in when the new albums from people like nero and magnetic man are released.

I don't believe any genre of music ever properly "dies", but it's almost like dubstep has gone back underground again. I can't think of any mainstream success for dubstep this year, unless there's something obvious I'm missing.

Skream (from Magnetic Man) has a new song out called Rollercoaster, and it's not even dubstep, it sounds more like a disco song (brilliant song though, I hope it can chart). Katy B's recent singles haven't been dubstep either.

I love Nero (as everybody knows ). If they released a song like Must Be the Feeling as their lead single, it could probably chart well.

Interesting points - fair to say that certainly among my circles dubstep was absolutely on fire at the turn of the decade, but in the last year or so as it's become somewhat more commercial and the likes of Flo Rida/Taylor Swift etc are emulating it it's faded a little. Last really huge dubstep track I can remember was Bangarang, and some would even argue if that even counts.

Pity the recent house stuff has been somewhat bland-sounding, although I did love Sonnentanz.

I can't image they're that bothered really. It will probably have better longevity now.

What a BITTER STAN Rooney is
Someone go quote Rooney's post last week about 1D 'definitely going to be #1' :heehee:

With a physical release on the 10th and an X Factor performance on the 24th, I think that's the idea that was in mind. Certainly better than cramming everything before/on the week of release so that it ends up having a chart run similar to other current boy bands.

Their release strategies are perplexing. Reckon it will just hang in and around the top 10 for a few weeks. Lots of big tracks out soon though, plus imagine Right Through Me and Monster will be around for a long time.

Quite amazing and effortless with 1D. They do well no matter what like Westlife back in the day. But the new song is actually worthy of the success.

Come on Britney. Dreaming of a top 3. (Not going to happen)

Annoys me that an anonymous dance song triumphs over our popstars yet again.

The exact opposite to me. People are buying this PURELY on the merit of the track - NOT the celeb status of said popstar. ;)

I understand their release strategies tbh. The Monday release was because that's the beginning of the sales week in the US, and they just released it the same day everywhere else in the world.

Despite what people say, I don't think One Direction are desperate for #1s. If they were, they'd release their songs on a Sunday, hold them back for 2 months, do CD signings all over the country, etc. One Direction are a global phenomenon now (with females at least ). I don't see why they'd care about getting #1s anymore, and it doesn't seem like they're particularly trying to get them. Not like The Vamps from a few weeks ago, for example.
