November 13, 201312 yr Really hope the Killers can stay top 5, im surprised shot at the night is as high as top 25 i hope it holds up, i really want Keane to stay top 10 but it will be touch and go seeing they are only number 10 in the mid weeks. THe material of artpop isnt connecting with me at all, i loved the fame/fame monster, borin this way as an album was ok but i loved marry the night and edge of glory so they saved the album for me but there is nothing on artpop making me buy it.
November 13, 201312 yr I'd just rather one of my favourite tracks of the year was not beaten to #1 by something completely dreadful. She's most likely going to get #1 anyway so I'll have to accept that, I just don't want it happening this week. Me too, I think Animals deserves a week at number one but I can see it doing what Storm Queen did against Eminem, I reckon there will be 5-10k difference but Lily can have a go at number one next week BTW, what were sales for Storm Queen on the first set of midweeks, wasn't it 45-50k then if so I'm confident Animals will do it easily
November 14, 201312 yr Thing is, The advert will probably get some prime time exposure on Saturday what with X Factor and all which will only extend its lead, and I think might just about swing it in her favour :( It would help if we knew by how much Martin was ahead. November 14, 201312 yr I'd love it if Lily could make it this week with Somewhere Only We Know, as I think she'll stand a VERY good chance of #1 next week with Hard Out Here, and her knocking herself off the top spot would be quite something after being absent for so long. Still though, an all-Lily top 2 could be possible regardless next week? :o

November 14, 201312 yr Without looking anything up, and showing my age, I think Frankie Goes to Hollywood (2 tribes and Relax) and Madonna (Into the groove and Holiday)! Maybe I'm just overtired though - it's late!
November 14, 201312 yr I love Avril Lavigne as we have all figured by now. But 14-OUT(of top 40) is just ridiculous. :(
November 14, 201312 yr Several dead people have replaced themselves at number one including the string of Elvis rereleases. I'm not sure whether a living act has ever done it although there have been cases where Cliff Richard and the Shadows were replaced by The Shadows and vice versa. Holiday never made number one and FGTH did not replace themselves at the top although they did occupy numbers one and two simultaneously.
November 14, 201312 yr I believe the only artists who have done so are Elvis in 05 & John Lennon in 81, but maybe The Beatles managed it in their heyday? On the subject of this week's chart it'd be much better for Animals to hit #1 this week and if Allen is to hit #1 next week then it should be with an original rather than a cover.
November 14, 201312 yr Yes, The Beatles did do it. At the end of 1963 I Want To Hold Your Hand replaced She Loves You. The latter song is one of the 40-something to return to number one in the same chart run.

ISTM that a good cover would be a better #1 than a bad original...
November 14, 201312 yr I did exactly the same. One song half as good as 'Bad romance' 'Edge of glory' or 'Poker face' would have changed my mind but not going near the album now . How do you know if you haven't gone near the album?
November 14, 201312 yr That's the thing, I have listened to clips but am just not tempted enough to listen to album. I may change my mind but let's face it I'm not the only one. Most the public base buying an album on the songs they here before hand. It's a big market. Saying that, I am listening to more songs bit by bit that may change my mind.
November 14, 201312 yr Fair enough...But for an edgy and controversial pop star those numbers are reasonable. That's basically her fanbase - others will jump on the wagon later on, if they are about to. She'll never have weekly sales as big as BTW's opening week. 99.999% of artists won't. November 14, 201312 yr It seems 'Do What U Want' is having its Sunday sales counted, surely they should subtract those sales like they did for the Eminem songs last week? (cue Dave Taylor)

November 15, 201312 yr It's far from his best single but I'm pleased Robbie's set to make the top ten now, wouldn't quite seem right for him to miss with a lead single. Woo for Ellie getting in the top five too, never thought it would do this well, when I first heard the album I suspected it would be a single but thought it would just go top 20, glad people have connected with it! I know it's for Children in Need but that's hardly a guarantee of success recently.
