'Dark Horse' would be a huge hit I think. Other than that, I agree there aren't that many great single choices... 'Birthday' could do well with a spring/summer release. I'd like to see 'Legendary Lovers' released, but that might be a bit too left-field (by her standards) for them to risk it. Loads of her fans have been raving about 'Walking on Air', but it seems a bit generic to me.

I heard Walking on Air on the radio a few weeks ago. I think it would do well, listening to it felt a bit like going through a time machine.

I'm shocked at 'Skip To The Good Bit''s performance. I would have expected that to do a (smaller sized) 'Mama Do The Hump' or something. :o

'Walking On Air' has properly hit me recently, I did think it was a bit limp before. SO good.

'Unconditionally' has quite a while until release (or 'impact', whatever they call it) date, plus she is on the X-Factor final too. It'll do just fine. 'Firework' needed something similar to kick it up the arse too.

"Dark Horse" would be a decent song with the Juicy J bits.
Any particular reason why Gaga is rising with 'Do What U Want' or is it just increasing airplay?

Late reply but it's also being used on a "Beats by Dre" advert which will be helping a little. Hopefully the video can come within the next week or so as well.

Cheers. That's the second advert it's appeared on; nice to see they've kept her afloat but she desperately needs a video, like now.

On the subject of Katy Perry possible singles, I really want 'Legendary Lovers' to be a single - to me that sounds the most single-worthy (although I prefer 'Walking On Air' and 'Birthday', but I don't think they'd work as well). 'Dark Horse' would be great too.

I see the Pogues are advertised on iTunes as 59p now, Is that the first time they've been reduced at Xmas?
Really pleased to see Gaga getting big increases tonight. The video is out on 3rd December and she has Alan Carr a couple of days later so she should be able to hold steady.

I Believe so since I recall most of the others were reduced last year and Fairytale wasn't.

Well The Pogues' top version has finally broken the top 100 at least (#94). Mariah is still easily ahead though, at 70 + 139 (The Pogues' second version is at #173). Do wish they'd hurry up and overtake her, I'm sure they normally have by this stage :/

Currently looking like it'll be a relatively small Xmas effect on the whole. It seemed bigger in the last 2 or 3 years compared to the year-on-year decline before that but the decline seems to be back. May be connected to the whole overall decline in singles sales in the past few months.

Completely agreed. 'Firework' wasn't doing too well to start with and then it blew up majorly, thanks to the XFactor performance iirc (it's longevity was helped by the XF exposure - I think it reached top 5 prior to that though). It's now her biggest seller. I just think it takes longer for people to catch on to her slower/more mid tempo stuff than it does the instant, catchy upbeat fun pop songs. I think people are pretty quick at judging this atm.

Firework was actually her quickest single to take off in the UK. The UK was the first country in the world where it went top 10, I think it's the only time we got a Katy Perry song there before Australia, US, New Zealand, etc. probably, and it got there without significant airplay and no music video. She performed it really early, a lot of people thought she would perform Teenage Dream because that seemed like still the "current" single.

I thought Firework's chorus sounded so epic the first time I heard it. It got way overplayed though, it seems like nothing now.

E.T. took longer to take off imo. That song was #1 in other countries ages before and was doing nothing in the UK for quite a while. And they released the Kanye West remix really early in the UK (when I thought they would save it for the official release week to help it get a higher peak).

McFly are falling faster than I expected. Even with all their versions, I think they'll be struggling to get Top 10 now, unless they've got some good promotion lined up :(
They have NO promotion lined up. Actually the promotion for this single has been very poor. Only performed it on Daybreak ,Pointless and Staying in with Greg and Russell. Daybreak and Staying in get less then a million viewers.

They performed on Xtra factor on Sunday but again these days that hardly pulls the viewers in (with Saturdays showing pulling in only 200,000 viewers)

Really? Even Big Brother's bit On The Side gets more than that!

It's very unnerving that quite a few Lostprophets songs have suddenly started climbing the iTunes charts. One of them is just outside the top 300. I don't understand people

Very strange people indeed who are downloading Lostprophets songs after their singer, Ian Watkins being found guilty of child sex offences. Very distasteful whoever is downloading those songs.

341. Rooftops

420. Last Train Home

734. Last Summer

1302. A Town Called Hypocrisy

1434. Burn Burn

That's sick. What is wrong with people? I was actually thinking of deleting my Lostprophets songs (decided against it for now though as no matter how sick Ian Watkins is, they did do some good songs back in the day).
