1-4-1 is a bizarre yo-yo run! No doubt its sales decreased nonetheless though :( Why is the release schedule so sparse? December used to be so busy for the singles chart, now its always completely dead.

 

It would really be quite something is One Direction got #1 next week. Good for them anyway. I still haven't even heard the song yet, however.

Eh, I'm not the biggest fan of One Direction but I would've preferred them there if only because 1-4-1 looks so messy and shows quite blatantly that sales are so low.

Her physical was out this week I think. John Lewis songs are one of the few that still benefit quite a bit from these.

The X factor and social media tend to play havoc with the charts at this time of year, so that probably has led to record companies being more cautious about releasing in December. Besides all the new tracks are being held back for January, so they can have 6-8 weeks on pre-order for an inflated first week position/sales.

That can be a good thing though. There were so many huge-selling hits in the last quarter in 2009 and 2010.

X Factor's dominance has diminished in the last 2 years or so (besides the winners single.) None of the guest performers went #1 the week they performed this year, when that happened virtually every week in 2009.
