I agree. Is 'Drunk In Love' getting plays on music channels or is it really just that popular? Very surprised at how well it's holding up.

Both XO and Drunk in Love are getting played. I've seen the latter much more though!

I've seen 'Drunk In Love' quite a bit on TV and 'XO' about twice. 'XO' sounds more commercial but I much prefer 'Drunk in Love'.

They're both being played on radio but I think XO is being played more.
'Adore You' making it as high as #61 on cherrypicks makes me think it'll be another relatively big hit for her (although saying that 'Unconditionally' did get to #60 in its first week, but then that was a confirmed single at that point whereas 'Adore You' IIRC wasn't). Hopefully she'll be back near the top of the chart with 'Feelin' Myself' if not with that anyway.
'Adore You' was just one of those "cherry picked because it's track 1" singles. Beyonce's 'Pretty Hurts' also got incredibly high due to the same sort of thing, and I think it happens a lot with albums too (where it's cherry picked more because it's track 1 etc..).

Yeah, I noticed the same, that on album release weeks track 1 usually is one of the highest.

I've infact heard probably most of her album on the radio. I wonder if they'll change the single from XO. It's not too late, since I don't think Radio 1 or Capital have playlisted XO yet, have they?

Capital have started playing XO Eric.

I've heard XO on Capital a few times already. Drunk In Love seems to always be on the TV though.

Speaking of which, do music channels have a big effect on sales? I can't imagine they would, seeing as viewing figures for music channels must be so low. I know singles do better if they have a video, but I'd imagine that this would be more from people watching the video online, rather than from seeing it on TV.

I don't think Radio 1 have updated their playlist since her album was released. Radio 2 have added 'XO' to their playlist though.

I think in the past MTV had a huge impact, but doesn't seem like it does anymore. Obviously it'll still have some impact on sales though, but not a huge amount. I guess it's not needed with Youtube, etc. Some of the channels don't seem to even play much music anymore.

The Box had a huge impact from as early as 1996 ('Wannabe' was played to death on the channel for weeks, building the impact) right up to about 2005 or so. Certain hits I'm sure would never have been as big had they not aired on The Box so much prior to release - Scooter's 'The Logical Song' being perhaps the biggest example, right up to Dana Rayne's 'Object of My Desire' being a fairly surprising top 10 hit this time nine(!) years ago.

Youtube was launched at the end of 2005 and The Box changed format to a more conventional music channel soon after.

"One More Sleep" #207. Still very high for a Christmas song! All the others have fallen way down in the chart. If only she recorded a non-festive version of the song.

How did Fuse ODG get back to #11 all of a sudden?! :o Looking at the pop bars, it must have got a significant boost from somewhere.
