Such a great song, so underrated, although listening to the production and considering the songwriters, perhaps it should have been called Manic Street Preachers feat Kylie, would probably have had more success that way! It would be in my top three Kylie songs alongside All The Lovers and What Do I Have To Do!

Yeah I think the Manics were pretty big at that time too so perhaps it would've been a big hit! :)

What did paloma shift on the first two days of sales wasnt it also 17k.

21k, including 4.5k on the Tuesday.

It might just be me but I'm really underwhelmed by Duke Dumont's sales, I was expecting 80-90k given the longevity of the pre order in the top 100

Really hope it can get a high sales tally by Sunday, though 150k looking less likely now

I hope Human League go top 10, even though it would mean Example losing out but it will be so funny hearing Jameela introduce this and play the video

What's the big deal about the Chart Show playing a track that happens to be from the 80s?

Radio One play songs they don't playlist all the time when they are doing the chart rundown.

They are not (and I don't think ever have been ) a 'Top 40' type radio station, despite having the exclusive rights to be the first to broadcast the new Top 40.

There seems to be a lot of sentiment on here that playing an 'oldie' on the Chart Show will be awkward or embarrassing, but I don't see how.

I still can't believe this - I considered him a has-been, and didn't even predict his album for top 5, let alone beating Kylie to #1...

Same here. I thought Top 5 at very best!

I think it will go like this roughly.

#1 - George Michael - 39,000 - 41,000

#2 - Kylie Minogue - 30,000 - 32,000

#3 - Pharell Williams - 17,000 - 20,000

#4 - Elbow - 15,000 - 16,000

#5 - Paloma Faith - 15,000 - 16,000

#6 - The Pretty Reckless - 10,000 - 12,000

I don't think that Chick from Glee will hold onto the top 10, Kylie I think could sneak up to #1 next week due to her promo but the sales may be a bit low, like under 20,000. The only main contender for next week is Shakira and she's not going to get anywhere near the Top 3 in my honest opinion.

*Whispers - Sam Bailey XF* ;)

Sam Bailey XF + Mother's Day effect, which is unlikely to help Kylie much.

Too early to say whether the album will ever top the chart, but it won't do it in the next fortnight.

Agree. If anything, I expect a heated contest next week between Sam Bailey and George Michael (given the demographics) for Mother's Day. If K has to get to #1, it's got to be this week (unless by a miracle she pulls a Halcyon at some point in time!)
Anyhow this is a thread topic for other artists as well not just Kylie. We do have a stand alone Kylie forum to discuss if her career is going to flop or not.

Ah, but none of us there will believe that. :)

To be fair, if it wasn't for the Kylie chat here about the album released this week then the thread would still be on page 1.........

This week I think George will hit 45-50k

Kylie should get 30k I hope and I think a little longevity through April would be nice with some pricing strategies

Can I ask a question. If they are selling the CD album as an extra add on to her concert tickets, do these count towards UK charts?

Sigh, Sam Baileys going to go to Number 1 isn't she :/ There's no other competition next week that's likely to do it so it just depends on how well George holds up, maybe news of a number 1 album may help boost sales. I can't see Sam selling more than 25k anyway but no matter how well/badly it will do, Syco will be making a profit considering the amount of effort/money they've put into it.

Foster the People to come in with the surprise smash please!

Ignoring the fact that that is not true at all, I would rather have that than endless pages of inane circular Kylie babble.

Current ITunes world chart....

1 Pharrel

2 Skrillex

3 Coldplay

4 George Michael

5 Kylie

3 of those are in the UK top 3 this week. Skrillex is 8th and Coldplay still to be released yet.

good to see UK following global trends :)

It's the first time Kylie has properly released anything in 4 years, feelings are bound to be running high. :teresa:

Amazon have reduced their MP3 albums today so Kylie, Elbow, George all £4.99 now BARGAIN and should collect some extra sales before Sunday.
