September 14, 201412 yr Sam Smith top 3! :o 'Shake It Off' grates on me now. :( Same. :( It reeks of BWGS as well, unfortunately. (Basic White Girl Syndrome).
September 14, 201412 yr Walking with Elephant reminds me of Mr. Oizo. Not a good think 15 years later. I hear no Massive Attack undertones in Flat Beat!
September 14, 201412 yr Joseph, perish. Sam Smith in the top 3? Really? (I guess the A$AP Rocky remix is largely to thank for that, surely he can't be far ahead of Taylor. Poor her being denied top 3 again, next week surely?)
September 14, 201412 yr I like these factoids, would like to see them more often! What was the last song to drop 2-13 like 'Won't Look Back'? I wasn't going to mention that, it was Dappy & Brian May's "Rockstar" from March 2012. Best left in the forgotten pile.

For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2012 11 Latch (Disclosure Feat. September 14, 201412 yr from Ten Walls to Blegh Widow, what a comedown :/ Anything after this was going to be underwhelming, and that's putting it politely!! And please can someone sack Jameela she's doing my 'actual' head in :( Edited September 14, 201412 yr by James1987
September 14, 201412 yr I bet Lilly Wood snatches it. I'm starting to worry too even though I love both tracks, three weeks would feel a bit excessive and overexposed, I just don't want to get sick of it because it's such a good track.
September 14, 201412 yr I still don't get the mass appeal behind this song that's converting so many, it's a bit better than Stay With Me (and I can at least distinguish them now) but it's just...a bit boring really. I could get behind Nirvana doing this well, but not this. Add him next to Ed Sheeran in 'artists I will never get' most likely. Edited September 14, 201412 yr by Chez Wombat
September 14, 201412 yr 'Shake It Off's success is baffling. If anyone else released it, it would be nothing but laughed at...
