I was trying to work out how old Mick and Shirley, if Shirley had Mick when she was 15, I should imagine Mick is 40 and Shirley is around 55 now.

I think that was meant to be Mick's 38th birthday! Pretty sure at some point it was revealed that Shirley had Mick in 1977. Lee turned 22 in 2014 (it was his birthday celebrations when Babe revealed Stan's cancer) and Nancy recently celebrated her 21st birthday. So they were born in 1992 and 1993 respectively. That puts Mick & Linda at 15 years of age when they had Lee, maybe not even 15 when he was conceived? (Linda is currently meant to be 37).

I had wondered about this for a while, whether Mick & Linda were really meant to be that young when they had kids, so it was nice to have some confirmation, when Mick alluded to that in yesterday's episode.

Two brilliant episodes yesterday, incredibly emotional and perfectly acted by all those involved.

Don't forget about the BBC iPlayer-only behind the scenes episodes that will start on the 27th January, with 2 episodes released a week until the 30th anniversary.

I even felt sorry for Babe. No one loved her enough to give her a proper name :(

That was pretty sad! :(

There'll be former cast members featured on the iPlayer clip show. Pam St Clement and Barbara Windsor will be looking back along with...

Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), Laurie Brett (Jane Beale), Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell), Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell), Shane Richie (Alfie Moon), Jessie Wallace (Kat Moon), Diane Parish (Denise Fox), Tameka Empson (Kim Fox), Rudolph Walker (Patrick Trueman), Himesh Patel (Tamwar Masood) and Nitin Ganatra (Masood Ahmed).

HUGE spoiler about the rape outcome...

Dean seemingly gets away with it :/ Matt DiAngelo has signed a new year long contract. I don't like it playing out like this... I was looking forward to him getting his comeuppance and poor Linda getting some closure and perhaps a chance to move on.

I had a bad feeling that this would end up being the case.

:(

Disgusting.

I don't want to wait another year for it to be announced that Dean raped Linda.

I don't mind Dean getting away with it to begin with, but please can they not drag it out for about a year before he's finally found out and gets his comeuppance? :drama:

Why is the director so intent on dragging storylines?

Why is the director so intent on dragging storylines?

I think it's right to do so in regards to this storyline. It's showing that rape isn't just an open-shut-case - it's a long and hard journey to get over the emotional pain and for the rapist to be convicted (if at all). I quite like long storylines and I don't think DTC has been "dragging" them as such - that would suggest it's unnecessary for them to continue whereas the EE storylines, to me, have needed to be long as there's so much to explore.

As for this 'spoiler' about the rape storyline, it's true that we were already told this would happen. Many rape cases don't see the rapist convicted and this is what has to be reflected in the programme. I think it's quite right that people are angry by this but it needs to be understood that EE is reflecting life and the anger shouldn't be directed at EE itself but more the fact that this is the reality. I'm sure we were told that Dean would get his comeuppance in some way or another (not going to jail though) as it's important for soaps not to make out like all hope is lost.

I hope the resolution isn't just Shirley neglecting him and him then running away, or something dodgy like that. They need to have Mick kill him or something.
Tbh, I think the most satisfying conclusion of this storyline would be Dean committing suicide when he finally realises what he's done and what type of person he is. That would be a very powerful ending, and there would be some sense of justice without creating another murderer in EastEnders.

That's kind of what I'm thinking could happen too. Don't forget Dean talked about previously feeling suicidal to Linda just before the rape.

I NEED to know what her secret is though!
