 3. Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

Why has this taken off *now*, when it's just been chugging along steadily for 3 months?

cos people's lack of taste

Thinking Out Loud is the most instant single Ed Sheeran has released yet (far more commercial than The A Team). People love soppy songs in this country so this really shouldn't be a surprise. All the mums hearing it on radio for the first time will be buying it in their thousands like All Of Me.

Blimey Ed Sheeran at #2, didn't realise it was that high until now, I haven't been looking at the LPBs for awhile.

Its going to have a very strange chart run if the track peaks at #1, after all this time its been in the chart.

So the Foos song will be chart eligible, prob too late to dent the top 40 this week though...?

Surely enough people have the album by now :drama:

Music on TV this weekend -

Ah thanks I couldn't find the topic the XF guests are listed.

Maroon 5 is something different I suppose - hope both perform new singles as their last ones have had enough exposure!

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga are performing on Strictly Come Dancing this Sunday too.
Jonathan Ross show returns Saturday as well. Music coming from Paolo Nutini. Would like a nice re oost for "Iron Sky" but I doubt it will go top 40 iTunes again :(

Where do people think Fuse ODG will chart next week? It's a catchy song for sure, but I have a feeling it won't match the peak of his previous top 10s. Maybe 9 to 11 range? (matching Angel's previous Wonderful and Lights On peaks!).
I hope it charts at #9 just for the obscure amusement value of Angel's top 40 hits all peaking there (in addition to his two #41s, but he also has a #73 hit which ruins all the humour). I can see it ending up around #15 though.

And coincidentally giving Fuse another odd number peak in the top 10.

I did not even think of that :magic: It doubly has to happen now. Then maybe he'll get a #1 later.

I wish Radio 1 would get behind The Veronicas. That little bit extra of airplay could potentially push it top 100 on pre-orders! Still can't quite believe how high they are though basically with thanks to heart!

Fuse ODG is this decades Sean Paul I think. Back in 2003, Sean Paul had a string of hits that mirror Fuse's (although Sean Paul had more features) and drew attention to a genre of music popular, but not mainstream, namely dancehall. In 2003-04, there was Wayne Wonder, Kevin Lyttle and Lumidee who got hits.

Fuse's success will lead to more afrobeat artists attempting to hit the charts, already we've had the likes of Mista Silva and Atumpan being supported by urban radio while they attempt to compose crossover hits.
