Bandits vs. Bandaids

It's been 30 years since the release of the original Band Aid, so to both celebrate this and to fight the current African crisis of Ebola, a fourth edition of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' is released this week and there's little question of it not going to #1. Depending on whether the Children in Need single by Gareth Malone holds up well, this week could see a brand new Top 4, as Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne's 'Real Love, Olly Murs/Travie McCoy's 'Wrapped Up' and David Guetta/Sam Martin's 'Dangerous' are all released. Elsewhere in the Top 10, new entries may come from Wretch 32's '6 Words' and Rixton's 'Wait On Me', with further Top 40 entries including Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pitbull and Andy C & Fiora, plus a re-entry for 5 Seconds of Summer.

In the albums, last week's huge #1 of Pink Floyd should be replaced by another - in the shape of One Direction with their fourth studio album FOUR. The Top 4 albums from last week are continuing to sell well so may complete the rest of the Top 5, so long as they can shake off competition from Bette Midler's 14th studio album It's the Girls!, David Bowie's Nothing has changed. - a compilation of new, rare, and much loved material - Katherine Jenkins' Home Sweet Home and Shirley Bassey's Hello Like Before. Other releases this week come from Nickelback, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Bryan Ferry, Daniel O'Donnell, Depeche Mode, The New Basement Tapes and Thompson. Kasabian's #1 album 48:13 is re-released this week so may return to the Top 40, along with S Club 7's greatest hits album Best following their Children in Need performance.

One Direction - around 250k

It's probably worth saying, make sure this thread doesn't go down the same route as the last one! :P

And perhaps keep any Band Aid discussion down to chart stuff, there's a separate topic for anything else Band Aid-related, although I appreciate discussion can drift a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if One Direction failed to beat Ed Sheeran's first week sales. I think they'll at least be able to beat Coldplay's though.

Dammit! :( I'm hoping they stall at around 150k.

Thanks I didn't realise it was as much as that, hopefully they can do close to that this week. I suppose SOML was huge this time last year - had a real xmasy feel!

I don't think Poo Direction will sell 250k this week of their album. Their single hasn't performed that well - I suspect somewhere between 150-200k. I hope much less though but one can only dream!!

If you insist on giving them a critical name can you think of something more creative than Poo Direction, please? :P

I think they'll be somewhere in between 175-200k. Is their any information on how it's done on pre-orders?

I'd prefer they stall at 150 copies! :w00t:

Me too, but this is the real world :P

Can't wait for the mids today if we get any, I'm hoping Band Aid to clear 100k+ on todays' mids :o

My Guess? They will do it easily but maybe it's just me. Still 92% lead. INSANE.
