That's giant for a first day, wow :o Good to see downloads can still shift in such big numbers. Could this be the first week in 63 or whatever it is that download sales don't dip year on year? Band Aid needs to make up for a 600k deficit I guess...

That's the #1 sorted for a few weeks now, the only competition will be the X Factors winners single on the 15th Dec.

Wow wonderful to see such sales. What did Band Aid 20 do on its opening day?

Would love this to be xmas No1 but if the XF winners popular at all they will shift 300k on xmas week whereas Band Aid will be on 200k by then.

I don't have a clue regarding first day sales but its total week sales are 292,594, so its already smashing it

Band Aid 20 sold 72,000 copies in the first 24 hours, no download sales included in that of course (though it was available to download on the iTunes store eventually).

Yeh i recall it was something like that for the week but it consistently sold that for 4 weeks whereas i have a feeling downloads are more fluid and might go up and down quicker. Also in 2004 the cd was dying which might have effedted its high first week and xmas week sales!

Much bigger sales than I imagined. Guess that's partly down to the download era. It's so much easier and cheaper to click a button at home than make your way to the shops and purchase a £3.99 cd. For me therefore sales can't really be compared.
Band Aid 30 song is only on itunes as things stand as far as I know, I'm guessing it will also sell a lot of physical copies
When I said it's on course to 1.3M if it keeps this way (It won't but still... more than 90% lead still! so another 185K tomorrow?) people were laughing at me :| I knew this would be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. 700K+++ on lock.

Well, 700k is still about 50% off your initial prediction of 1.3m though

I'm glad it's doing this good. I think the song on its own is a brillant song really, whatever version it is as I think they all quite sound the same.

Band Aid II really was a flop sales wise. Only about 400K+? :o

Yeah that's quite surprising really, especially as S/A/W were at the height of their popularity at the time. But then thinking about it, I don't think there's many million-selling S/A/W singles - probably due to the fact that much of their output didn't really have a huge appeal outside of the teenage market (which I guess is the same reason 1D don't have any huge-selling singles).

I think sales of Band Aid will slow down later in the week, its just the initial mad rush after the showing on x factor, I reckon it'll do about 450-500k by the weeks end
The rest of the mids are in with top 5 sales ouch at the Veronicas #27

It's not only on itunes, I purchased my copy from Amazon last night

Decent start for Clean Bandit, even if it looks a little dwarfed by Band Aid!

Shame about You Ruin Me, these fanbase acts are bound to drop quickly I guess!
