The original Band Aid (1984) is at #44 and Band Aid 20 are at 56. Band Aid II are in the year 1989 and stuck in a time paradox they can't get out of. :(

those are the best two imo. So happy they are so close to top 40 :D

Astronomical first day sales for Band Aid 30, I wonder if it can overhaul 'Happy' as the biggest seller of 2014? I guess that'll depend upon how well it holds up and the kind of boost it receives from physicals/remixes. 'Do They Know It's Christmas? (2014)' is certainly going to smash the record for the biggest weekly sales in the month of November (385k Various Artists - Perfect Day 1997)! *.*

Fabulous to see Clean Bandit score another massive hit, despite being held from the top by a charity behemoth, hopefully 'Real Love' will enjoy some decent longevity in the chart!

Pleasing that David Guetta is top five in such a fiercely competitive week! :cheer: Fingers crossed Andy C can retain a top40 berth come Sunday! :)

The dropouts from last week's top 40 single chart - 20 23 24 29 32 34 35 36 37 38 39 40

For immediate reference (& I had a spare minute) these are:

i, Bump & Grind, Prayer In C, Anaconda, Break Free, Sing, Animals, Rude (:cheer:), Ghost, Ugly Heart, God Only Knows & Waves

Probably just repeating what everyone else said but was not expecting those sales for Band Aid in the first update - Also really impressive for 1D, Although massively front loaded to shift that amount for their 4th album without a huge lead single is an achievement
Decent start for Clean Bandit, even if it looks a little dwarfed by Band Aid!

Shame about You Ruin Me, these fanbase acts are bound to drop quickly I guess!

Are the Veronicas a fanbase act? I thought it did well due to the song being played on Heart.

Clean Bandit & Olly will struggle to break 100k then!

Good to hear, I assume even the original version will fall a bit until December though. Any other xmas songs as NE in the top 100?

Where is Hozier this week?

I just tiptoed around Only Human ;)

This is exactly what the chart needs at the moment, a massive clear out - looks like we're gonna get it! (Sad for i though).

Where is Steal My Girl please ?

Yes, their fanbase exists only on Buzzjack!

(I was joking, it's just a very front-loaded song I guess due to the months of pre-orders)

Is Happy still in the 41-50 range?

2-5 could all have been #1 under different circumstances, assume they sell about the same each day for the rest of the week :o

I bet a few of these will find their way back into the top 40, especially Prayer In C and Sing. They just aren't ready to leave yet :D

1D are doing well once again.

They're going to sell in one week what 5SOS sold in 4 months.

And Steal My Girl had a deceiving start, but it's doing well now in the UK, becoming a good hit. Five weeks in the top 10 (and one week at #11).

Wonder if "Night Changes" is going to be their "Little Things"/"Story Of My Life" of the album...

Band Aid is outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined! :magic: Big clear outs in both charts, but I hope some songs/albums can work their way back up the chart.

Band Aid 30 will undoubtedly slow down a lot (if not this week then certainly in the next couple of weeks, I don't think it will get 4 consecutive weeks at #1 because it's going to burn too many of its sales this week but it will start increasing again with the physical release and as Christmas approaches). However, there's no getting around just how spectacular that first day sale is. Not like it even had masses of pre-orders, it was only put up for pre-order a couple of days before release! I hope it can beat the first week sales of 'Wherever You Are'.

Pretty good album sales from 1D as expected also, a bit of a decline from the start of their last album though - I should think 'x' is still secure as the fastest selling album of the year so far and it'll probably be close between 1D and Coldplay for 2nd place (before Take That inevitably smash all of them).

5SOS are a little higher than I expected in the singles chart, would still be surprised if the song got a new peak but it should be a top 30 re-entry. Really hoping Wretch 32 can hang onto the top 10 for the week  Pretty decent sales for Clean Bandit and Olly as well, maybe not good enough to break 100k for the week but hopefully 70k+ for both?

And I was beginning to worry that Daniel O'Donnell wasn't gonna turn up in the album chart this year, there he is though :magic: That'll be a record-extending 24th consecutive calendar year with at least one new top 40 album (27th consecutive year with a top 75 album).
