I saw Underneath the Tree on MTV last night - its video is pretty poor - seems to be just a live performance. A better vid could have got her better plays in future years imo. She still looks  in it though!

What you make of this then ;)

I cant view that on my iphone  I can only guess lol. Is that the proper video?

87 Leona Lewis One More Sleep

545 Kelly Clarkson Underneath the Tree

It's a shame these are getting little airplay. It would be great for Christmas songs that are less than 2 decades old getting the heavy rotation for once.

I think #87 is pretty decent at this point for Leona - it takes time to build up a Christmas classic. Hopefully Leona and her management will try and milk it, but her parting with SyCo will probably prevent that.

One More Sleep  79.

It's rising quite a bit now. I think the airplay from Heart is really helping it.

Does anyone have the figures of where 'All I Want For Christmas Is You" has peaked every year since 1994? It'd be interesting to see.

Glad to see Band Aid 30 back in the top 10. I really do hope they can get back to #1 next week, it's not going to take THAT many physicals considering they're still selling a decent fraction of Taylor/Ed on downloads.

Well since 2007 (i.e. in the download era):

2007 #4

2008 #12

2009 #18

2010 #22

2011 #11 (start of the 59p offers I believe)

2012 #20

2013 #12

1994 was obviously #2 and it wasn't in the Christmas top 75 of any subsequent years until the download era, may have possibly re-entered the top 200 but I couldn't answer that.

For The Pogues (who also charted in 2005/6 due to the CD re-release in 2005):

2005 #3

2006 #6

2007 #4

2008 #12

2009 #12

2010 #17

2011 #13 (lower peak than Mariah but they were ahead in the Christmas week, Mariah peaked earlier)

2012 #12

2013 #14

40. Torn Apart (Bastille vs. GRADES) - Bastille & Grades

This release seems to have been handled awfully, it's just been released as a single after being held back for ages (so long that it's already off the R1 playlist). So pointless to release it NOW when the EP is out in a couple of days anyway (which would give it a full week of sales)

Thanks Bre! Very interesting. It's funny that there are so many more people each year who don't already own the songs!
Hopefully Ella can rise to number 5 after Jonathan Ross, maybe even top 10 next week as I think she may just miss it this week.

I believe the high peak of No12 & 14 last year was the full week of sales prior to xmas day (inc xmas eve)?

2005 was really the Pogues big chance of a No1 - i remember they re-released the song on CD/Vinyl (of which i purchased both) and so it was chart eligible because at the time a physical had to be available. Then there was the controversy with the banning of the swear words by radio 1 which actually made the main news bulletins and sales were obv atrocious in 2005 (apart from the No1/2 which i think was Shayne Ward on humongous sales and Nizlopi which sold a hell of alot in its 2nd week something like 190k)!

I believe the high peak of No12 & 14 last year was the full week of sales prior to xmas day (inc xmas eve)?

For The Pogues it was, Mariah peaked the previous week (she was #13 in the Christmas chart).

Is that confirmed? :o EDIT: Just seen that it is.

She's also performing 'All I Want For Christmas' so that could get quite a boost too!

Someone sings 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' (why do people keep leaving out the last two words of that title, pet peeve of mine!!1!) every year on XF, I don't think it usually has that much of an effect.

THIS IS FLEUR THOUGH!!!!1!

Wow at the inclusion of 'Uptown Funk' too. Excited to see what she does with it. Can't wait for it to be huge in the new year <3

It didn't enter the Top 200 again until the download era - it was #194 on 13 Jan 2007 which was the date that downloads could chart without a physical release.

The last time anyone sang it was 2007 (Same Difference) It has been sung by someone in all three seasons of the US version because the final theme was always Christmas!

Yeah I was gonna say, I didn't think anyone had done it on XF for a while.

Do we really need to keep discussing this in spoiler tags? It's hardly a big secret
