I wonder if Band Aid is much of a challenger this week. ITV were saying Ben goes head to head with Band Aid for the Xmas #1

Doubtfull its downloads will be 5-12k and the cd will maybe push similar amounts as its xmas week but itll be lucky to stay top 5 imo!

this week then.

tbh I've seen worse top 3s at this time of year. I know Ben's songs is a cover & a default number 1 but it suits him well, better than most X Factor Christmas number 1s. & the other two are good songs.

Glad ben is #1 with a considerable lead! Hopefully he'll keep increasing his lead and won't start decreasing until Wednesday when the physical is released. Currently on course for 300k+ I guess then? :)

Probably a bit less but it'll depend on the midweeks tommorow.

Where are Iron Maiden combined now?

10/11 versions of the song are in the top 1000 charting at: 964,963,930,862,804,694,616,416,329 and 58 but all of them are falling rather than going up.

So a pretty flimsy effort if you ask me!

Shocked that neither Iron Maiden (#58) nor The Peace Collective (#95) have even made it to the T40 - I thought people thrived on these campaigns. I'm thankful in any case, Ben's cover is actually pretty decent and as it's pretty unknown song to begin with, he can pull it off as his own to the general public I reckon.

I'd happily see Mark Ronson, Olly Murs, Band Aid 30 and Ed Sheeran occupy the remaining positions in our Christmas T5 - though with a lack of T10/T40 competition I hope we get a few more Christmas re-entries and perhaps The Pogues can go T10?

Looking forward to seeing UFs sales on gift card week tbh!

If only the original was having such success :( even as not a fan of Ben, I enjoyed his live performance of it but they've basically just edited out the grit that made me slightly unique and he sounds really dull and lifeless. But it's my favourite One Republic song so it was gonna be hard to live up to.

Still, better than Sam Bailey's desecration of my second favourite song ever

The chart seems extremely lacklustre for Xmas week, even when the #1 is obvious it's usually more interesting than this. Everything seems to be underperforming (except maybe Olly and Gorgon City).

09. One Direction - Night Changes

Still can't believe they never performed this on x-factor it would have managed to at least go top 4 this week had they performed this.

24. Imagine Dragons - Demons :cheer:

30. Fifth Harmony - Bo$$ [Would be good to see this getting two weeks top 40]

41. Coldplay - Miracles

72. Nicki Minaj Feat Ariana Grande - Get On Your Knees

84. Nicole Scherzinger - Run :(

Christmas week has gone from the most exciting week of the year to absolute dullsville. Will we ever get the excitement back from years like 1998, 1999 or 2003?

Granted to no.1s are often easy to pick but there used to be so much going on elsewhere in the charts in this week.

There isn't even one novelty act this year, unless you count Ben Haenow
My local Asda had them on display as soon as you walk in. But then I guess they do have 250k of them to try and shift

I saw in ASDA today they're being sold for £3.70. Who in their right mind is gonna pay that much for it?

It's got all four versions on it apparently. But even so it's ridiculous, I'm sure they'd have sold a hell of a lot more if they'd priced it at say £1.99.

If you think Ben's novelty then what would you say if Stevi had won? :P

I wonder where this will enter next week? if it's really true that this has been on pre order FOR A WHOLE YEAR then it should go to #1.

Thanks. That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me here.

You're welcome.

Yeah it should shoot straight to #1 almost certainly but it won't be there for very long & will most likely fall to about the usual place Bizzle charts these days...
