Do people actually watch that Top of the Pops thing?

Yep, every year :D

I am having faith and probably being overly generous, it may even fail to make the T10 like Gorgon City. After Thursday, everything else will be overtaking it so whilst it may be #3 in today's midweeks by the end of Saturday it will be plummeting and perilously close to dropping out of the top tier.

Ed Sheeran (which mysteriously auto-corrects to Sheehan on my Mac) will be streaming close to 1.7 million again - he hit a record high last week and sales will go up after ToTP no doubt. Olly is already selling well, Take That will likely get a boost from ToTP so there is no way it is going Top 5 anyway.

Ed Sheeran is also on the Hootenanny so he'll get another boost next week :drama:

If the Christmas TOTP was still like it was in the late 90s/early 00s, I'd definitely still watch. But I feel nauseous when I see the lists of guests these days and it never looks like a reflection of the year.
I hope Afire Love can re-enter if X does a well enough boost! :D
Thanks Sunday. What a year Ed Sheeran has had. Surely he'll clean up at the Brits.

Yes, he has had a great year but he is completely overrated. I don't get his mass appeal and don't have either of his albums and wouldn't buy them. He has done a couple of good songs including his current hit but that's it really. An album by him would completely bore the pants off me.

Ben's trend on iTunes compared to Mark Ronson is quickly falling

Good. Ronson is going to have a massive hit and wouldn't be surprised if its the next million selling single.

There are many reasons why Ed Sheeran isn't overrated; I can bore you with them but I feel it wouldn't be worth my time.

I don't know if he will do 200k again this week -- there'll be a big drop off in sales after Thursday, and remember this week is therefore not a full week of Christmas affected sales.

It's surely not hard to see his mass appeal? His music is totally inoffensive and very radio friendly, which helps him appeal to all age categories. I think he's more diverse than people let on also, the three x singles have all been totally different for example ~

Some great tunes climbing before Xmas day! :cheer:

Hope Shake It Off re-enters the top 20/15 but streams not counting will bring it down :(

Last All Night assuming it is still supported by streams will hopefully slow down in its quick descent this week. It's looking promising on iTunes :D

Hopefully Flutes will make the top 30 at least but what's really let it down is how long it's stuck around until FINALLY it's released! Though I bet if it was released earlier it may have been a flop on the top 100

Heroes #3 on iTunes and #26 on Spotify. I like to hope it'll make top 5 :please:

I kind of hope there won't be any chart news at all. It makes the Sunday chart far more interesting - especially with streaming now included.

Bit late considering there's already been the news of Ed's album sales and Mark being #1 :kink: (although of course the latter was quite obvious).

Ed's album sales are still absolutely phenomenal, looks like 'x' will be overtaking the sales of '+' before too long. Both to pass 2m in 2015?

You make it sound like you're forced to read the midweeks :P

Ed Sheeran's voice is too drone-esque for me so I tune out and often don't listen to the lyrics. Also the yoof (kids I teach) hype him like the second coming when he's not really that much of a stand out artists. But then the same people die a little inside whenever I say Rita Ora has an average voice so what do they know?

My Mum loves Ed Sheeran, and even my Dad likes some of his music and he is someone who brought me up listening to The Stone Roses, Elvis Costello, The Clash, The Jam etc. so he obviously has quite wide appeal.

It won't be long until the kids realise this and he becomes 'uncool'. Watch it happen in 2018.

I was about to say the same thing - maybe just don't click on the topic if you don't want chart news? Perhaps some of us would prefer to have it.
