The delicate, splendid Hair has been cut short. It was a battle of the pride anthems in the last round but this falls short. The song was one of the album's promotional singles and features one of the album's two saxophone appearances from Clarence Clemons. A beautiful song, so personal to Gaga herself (her freedom and expression is borne out of her hair quite literally, but also through her thoughts, her fashion and her identity) but also personal to so many listeners. Some may lament the album for it's apparent overly preachy nature but in a song like this, the message of individualism, liberation and self-expression is so pure and honest that it's impossible to neglect. The song also led to the iconic Baldga performance on Paul O'Grady :'(
