I think the thing to look at is who he didn’t throw under the bus. He was at lengths not to chuck Sunak under the bus for Eat Out to Help Out among other things. Gove also escaped.

There’s defo an ulterior motive at play, it’s Cummings after all, but I haven’t yet worked out if that is Sunak or Gove for PM when the enquiry sinks Boris

I don't think he will be walking back in to the Government, he's largely hated. If he stuck up for anyone it's Gove. I thought with Sunak he was largely saying the Chancellor was reportedly the one who was dead against the 2nd lockdown in particular, but it doesn't appear to be the case at all. I think his ultimate motive is just ripping up Whitehall and I suspect Gove would be most likely to do that. To be fair, I was always skeptical about Cummings' obsession with the civil service but kind of does feel as if there is a culture there which does not lend itself to a high performing team and more akin to jobs for the boys.

I'm not convinced any public enquiry will sink Johnson. You don't even have to tell the truth in them, so if everyone has largely the same turn of events it's fine. You've seen it with Hillsborough today and we will see it with Grenfell in the future - serious misgivings, but nobody held to account.

The list of new Tory peers announced late last year included the name Peter Cruddas. He is a former Tory party co- Treasurer who had to resign from that post after allegations about charging people for access to Cameron and Osborne (PM and Chancellor at the time). Those allegations meant that the vetting panel for appointments to the Lords recommended that his name should be removed from the list. In the past, such a recommendation from the vetting panel has always been accepted. Johnson, of course, is rather less bothered about such trivialities and gave Cruddas a peerage anyway. By a remarkable coincidence, just days after Cruddas took his seat in the Lords, £500,000 found its way from Cruddas to Tory party coffers.

Hard to know what to make of this one, Cummmings and Hanock had complete different stories. If I remember, from what I read, Cummings said he would provide the commitee with evidence by a certain date and he failed to do that, which made me doubt the plausability. But these whatsapps look really bad - the stuff he mentions about Johnson.. while I don't doubt it is think we all know that is Johnson's end game here.
I don’t really need any evidence to prove Hancock would lie through his teeth about anything tbfh.
I don't trust Cummings, I just wish he'd fuck right off forever.

I'm worried for his safety actually. :(

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, in order to keep up with his target of making at least one ridiculous statement per week, has criticised advertisers for withdrawing their adverts from GBeebies, calling it a form of censorship. I look forward to the legislation compelling makers of stairlifts to match each advert in the middle of Countdown with one in the middle of Naked Attraction. Dowden doesn't seem to have sussed that advertisers consider their target market and their brand image when choosing where to advertise.

I stole a glance at the Telegraph after seeing that one, I'd not appreciated just how truly insane they'd gotten, their opinion section is filled with deranged rantings about cultural Marxism and far-left plots, lambasting the Tories for being too left-leaning, I swear I saw 'voters were tired of Lib Dem and Green lite in government so they voted for the real thing '.

Anyway, of course. Just part of the Tory and right-wing machine to redefine criticism of them as 'cancellation', and eventually outlaw it. Good on the companies who aren't funding hate, even if I suspect those who've already made the move have just made the calculation that more of their target customer base is the younger crowd who will be put off by them doing it (Kopparberg).

The most laughable thing about GB News is the idea that they're offering people a choice for the unheard, when there's already quite the bevy of right-wing and establishment news media to choose from.

I see that today the Conservatives are disingenuously implying that race instead of class is what is holding back working class kids in this country, and that talk of 'white priviledge' has led to neglect of these students instead of the actual fucking government that is stopping them from having free school meals and cutting all the services holding their communities together. Yeah, sure.. but they do love a good Gammon fuelled culture war so why let the truth get in the way eh?
This coming just days after Dido Harding promises to get rid of them foreign devils in the NHS and days before they want to indoctrinate the children by singing this stupid One Britain One Nation propaganda song is just a terrible, terrible look and yet people aren’t angry enough about any of it.

Tomorrow’s gonna be nauseating with 5th anniversary of the Brexit vote isn’t it. Avoid headlines and right wing Twitter at all times.\

I would hope that the One Britain song is too dreadful even for most Tories but learned not to get surprised at anything.

This, the discrediting of critical race theory that right-wingers have going on too, there's both a very racist line to these accusations, and an anti-intellectual line as well. Very dangerous stuff.

See, most countries place huge importance on education, for all, because they rightly understand that it's their future. However, with the British cronyism, abandoning of towns, and suchlike, white working class kids HAVE ended up in a position where they're rarely encouraged by their parents to excel in school, not having so many generational pressures of aspiration, and the government doesn't support them enough to make up the gap. It's of course nothing to do with race, there are just more white working class kids with poor educational funding or apathetic parents. It's very easy to misunderstand 'white privilege' though, which is why this works.

Soo after the Tories rushed to lie about Russia NOT bombing the seas/ firing warning shots around the RN ship in the Crimea, it turns out that the BBC defence correspondent was just, coincidentally, ON BOARD THAT VERY SAME SHIP!!! Authoritarian, one party state. This was purposrful sabre-ratyling designed to get a reaction, probably in order to make more schools think they should get their kids to sing that jingoistic nonsense in a couple of days.
Good to see Matt Hancock has been working "flat out" during last 6 months :D

Yes, been a busy boy.
