With a new album on the horizon and a handful of new singles, I thought it were high time for a Leona Lewis singles rate, as she's clocked up a fair few of them now.

RULES

Rules as you probably already know are simple: Rate everything with a score from 0 - 10. To stop everyone from stanning too hard, you are allowed a maximum of THREE 10s, you're also allowed ONE 11 and ONE -1, but of course there is nothing to say you have to use either of these. .5s will be expected but please no 10.5s.

Leona's a weird one for me. Always perfectly enjoyable even at her most basic, but she hasn't amassed that many classics or genuinely memorable songs. Stuff like Happy, Trouble and Forgive Me I can easily end up not listening to for months on end.

Some very strong singles as well as a few poor choices.

05.0 I Will Be (they should have just focused what promo this got in America all on Run, this was never going to be a big hit and at that point they should have been focusing on pushing that deluxe edition which Run would have done)

06.5 Hurt (I do like Leona's version but would have rather they just pushed forward with Glassheart or Trouble even with the album delay. Calvin put 5 singles out before 18 months was released and that album did just fine. At that point they should have been drip feeding Leona music to keep her in the public eye)

07.5 I See You

08.5 Thunder

 

The only single I never really liked at all was Happy, which just felt very weak to me (especially in comparison to Bleeding Love). Echo is my favourite album still, mainly because of I Got You. Still gutted that missed top 10, but after the Lovebird fiasco I appreciate it charting even more haha.

 

edit: Had to do one more tweek to my rates. Won't mess around with them anymore, promise. :D

My 11 goes to "Footprints In The Sand" mainly because of when I saw her perform it live at the Royal Albert Hall on her Glassheart tour - it was just breathtaking and so beautiful. I really love "I Am" and "Thunder". "Thunder" has grown on me massively over the last few weeks and is fast becoming one my favourite Leona songs. :wub:

I can't deny it..I'm a big fan of Leona :P Actually, my favourite song of hers is "My Hands"!

6.0 A Moment Like This (mediocre cheesy song but Leona's vocals save this from being anything less than good)

7.5 Bleeding Love (probably a controversially low score for this but I think Leona has had both better singles and better songs)

4.0 Better In Time (it may be one of her biggest hits but I find the released version of this song dull and uninspiring)

8.0 Footprints in the Sand (the better of the double A-side and really does Leona's vocal talents justice unlike BIT)

6.0 Forgive Me (an uptempo that falls a bit flat for me - love the Labyrinth tour arrangement though)

8.5 Run (fantastic track but not one of the ones I go back and listen to)

11.0 Happy (truly gorgeous track and deserved to be as big as, if not bigger than, Bleeding Love)

5.5 I Got You (weakest song on Echo for me - didn't even deserve single status)

7.0 Collide (it would have been a 5.0 if Afrojack hadn't worked his magic)

7.0 Trouble (a good song made even better by Childish Gambino's verse)

6.5 Lovebird (I love the verses but the chorus lets it down for me)

10.0 One More Sleep (fantastic, timeless Xmas track which never gets boring to listen to)

8.5 Fire Under My Feet (brilliant song, great lyrics, the production could be a bit tidier however)

5.0 I Am (not feeling this yet but the production is fantastic)

 

4.5 I Will Be (it's okay)

6.5 Hurt (a great cover that doesn't feel like a cynical Run rip off)

10.0 I See You (beautiful track with stunning lyrics, it deserved to smash the globe like MHWGO)

9.5 Thunder (very catchy and a great message without being cheesy)
