Yeah, I was wondering what Bon Jovi had to do with the price of fish

I wonder if Adele will go to #1 next week with 'When We Were Young'? It wouldn't surprise me if 'Hello' managed to climb back to number one though as streaming will be huge and the Graham Norton show I'm sure will ensure it has a massive lead again on iTunes.

It's great to see 'Eyes Shut' climbing rather quickly now, it's a great shame that it's still not discounted and their live performances have not had much impact on iTunes in the slightest.

Duran Duran have said that their royalties will go to a charity. I assume Eagles Of Death Metal will do the same, but they probably have other things on their minds at the moment.

Oops, that's very embarrassing. I guess my brain wouldn't split Save a Prayer with Living On a Prayer! I guess I was just in a rush to let people know the proceeds are going to some kind of charity.

Anyway Id imagine the song will definitely chart in the top 40 on Friday. It's holding up okay despite the band obviously having a niche market.

 20. Years & Years // Eyes Shut

Shakin Stevens is second this year atm :o amazing stuff, he's #211 :cheer:

Oh glad the Shawn/Camila song is finally out here! Hopefully Stitches' success worldwide can lead to this one getting support (plus Worth It being a smash too).
All My Friends better be huge, such an anthemic song <3
are they not going to bother with promoting 'Stitches' properly here then? Surprised this new one has instantly outpeaked it on iTunes.

I doubt it now, it's already peaked in the US, if they were gonna do it then I think it would've been done by now. Plus this has only outpeaked it on iTunes cause Stitches was a slow-burning post-album single :heehee: Life of the Party and Something Big also got higher than Stitches peaked on iTunes!

I'm surprised Y&Y's dreadful live performances haven't put people off. Great song though.

Tbh I suspected Y&Y would underperform with 'Eyes Shot', not only because it being quite a cliche ballad song, but also this not being suited to their target audience. All of their previous singles were much more quirky and production-wise different to my ears.

That and it's a post album single - the album having sold relatively well. Eyes Shut was also avaliable pre album on one of their EPs they released and was avaliable pre album to cherry pick.

Therefore why it was picked as a single was a bit bizarre IMO... They should've gone for Gold... or re-released Take Shelter or one of the other excellent songs from the album

Eyes Shut was the perfect single IMO and I'm not sure Gold would've done any better. Eyes Shut has translated into album sales quite well because it adds versatility, something Gold would not do IMO. I did expect it to do better but I guess its only big promo slot was on Children In Need at half 11 in the evening :drama: (and Alan Carr which provides only a small most anyway)

I love the song anyway and I'm glad it got a chance as a single

'Eyes Shut' seemed like the logical choice for late year ballad and it was the one which was getting the most attention/cherry picks.

I find it so immensely bland though, it's the sort of thing Sam Smith would do. It's almost like over the course of 3 singles they've made the transition to Radio 2 friendly act. :drama:

Eyes Shut is still climbing though, slowly but surely. And as I've said before, it's actually sold 100k already. I think things are far from over for it. I think it'll get a few weeks top 40, which to be honest I don't think any other song on the album will get.

Oh I like Eyes Shut... I just prefer a fair few on the album more :D

And yeah it is still climbing - I'm amazed at how long its kept around tbh (but pleased) and seems to be going in the right direction

Ah, now I understand where the confusion came from

Great to see reggae getting properly pushed! This tune is old though, was doing the rounds during mid-2014. Quite a chilled listen.
