I still prefer the BBC. They may be a little behind at times, but that's generally because they do more to confirm reports before they broadcast them.

Truly terrifying scenes in Paris, my thoughts go out to everyone there and the victims.
About 100 people died in the theatre attack. I am speechless

That is just awful tbh :(

If report above is true, sounds like ezplosives ://

Yup, so explosives, guns, killing injured people execution style in the theatre. That. Is. Horrendous.

Ordinary folks - who in their right mind would do this?

118 casualties.

What a twat Donald Trump is!

‏@realDonaldTrump Isn’t it interesting that the tragedy in Paris took place in one of the toughest gun control countries in the world?

Edit: this was from January and not tonight

Donald Trump is terrible and I hope he doesn't represent an idea of how we are.

I'm very sorry. My old friend from middle school lost his wife to these attacks. So terribly heartbreaking.

My thoughts are with all affected by this. Wish we could all just learn to love and not hate.

This is so heartbreaking, so much loss of life over nothing.

All I can hope is that this puts further emphasis on the fact these terrorists organisations need to be destroyed. You cannot comprehend.

Agreed. We really all need to pull together to end this.

My housemate, who is one of my best friends has gone to Paris for a four day break with her boyfriend as a birthday present and is staying at a hotel so close to one of the restaurants where people have died. She had a trip booked for the Eiffel tower tomorrow and is scared to go, so naturally I was so scared when all of this news broke out but regardless of any personal involvement, this is absolutely such an awful occurence.

This is so horrible. Someone really dear to me is just outside Paris and I had to make sure he's okay (which thankfully he is), I couldn't bear it if anything happened to him.

Just reading up on the details of this is so horrifying. My thoughts and love truly go out to Paris right now.

Can't believe what I'm seeing on the news this morning. It's heartbreaking and seems to be happening more and more often. Today I'm going to be spending most of the day in a concert hall, needless to say this will be in the back of my mind the whole day, but we can't let stuff stop us doing things.

I don't pray, I'm not into religion, but I send positive thoughts to all those affected.

I get up this morning and read this. SHOCKING. I don't even know what to say. I'm so sad about it and I'm thinking of the people who have lost someone in Paris today...
In fairness, this is the first time any Western capital has had two terrorist attacks in a year. Shit luck for an average Parisian to be targeted like this.

but the seeds have been sown for since the dismantling of empire. when you ghettoise and disenfranchise pretty much all immigrants, especially from north africa; fundamentalist islam takes a hold because society can't or isn't willing to offer you anything different. just look at the riots in 2005. it's been the perfect conditions to allow something like this to happen.

ultimately though what a waste of time, what twisted martyrdom version of islam are you believing in? we live in a world i don't entirely understand but DO get how we've come to this point and it's quite sad...

this is one of those mega events like 9/11 not in terms of dead but in terms of the magnitude it'll alter history and especially the european union, personal attitudes to immigration and most of all bringing some sort of fear (no matter how latent) into everyday life. and it's that subtle ripple that damages our national psyche and breeds one of the worst qualities society can foster: fear.
This will affect tourists going to Paris, surely? Terrible events with over 120 confirmed dead so far.

I am heartbroken to wake up to this news. :( I am so thankful that my cousin is safe. She lives 10mins from the scene of the first attacks.

She has said this morning that Paris has picked itself up and got on with its normal routine, determined not to let the bast*rds win.
