For 1 week only The Top 40 David Bowie Singles chart :D
Au contraire. There might not be a lot of difference in the music but Mendes does at least sound sincere (and come across as such in the one interview I've seen of him.) With Bieber it just seems like music by numbers, he just turned up, saw the lyrics and sang the songs.

Correct!

It's a shame Bowie's strange Xmas song isn't top 100 :heehee:

slay

This has been somewhat overshadowed by events, but great to see them back.

So this.

“Heroes” now at 5.

Originally it charted at #24 in November 1977. It could be argued that it is doubtful there have been 23 better records ever recorded, let alone in the chart above it that week. Will be fitting for it to achieve a new peak under these very sad circumstances.

Among the records above it that week were No More Heroes by The Stranglers and a tribute to the recently-deceased Elvis Presley.

was it a post-album single? because otherwise it seems very odd that it peaked so low.

The song did eventually go to #1 when it was covered by The X Factor Finalists 2010 anyway.

Just had a Bowie buying fest on iTunes after I realised I only owned Life On Mars? How did that happen.

RIP Bowie, such a loss.

Hopefully these David Bowie songs will give us a good old clearout of some deadwood in the chart, so when his songs start dropping some new songs will start to climb.

Indeed it'll be exciting seeing all these Bowie entries, a unique chart in the same way as July 2009 when the King of Pop left us and a great way to celebrate his life. Sales at the top end (from the first midweeks) are quite low with the no1 aiming for around 60-65k(actual sales even lower) so this may mean a lot of entries.

A bad thing about this is that some of the post Xmas newer tracks rises will stall.

Just realised that the song Modern Love was by Bowie! I loved that back in the 80s - no idea it was him. Tune.

As Dan was saying how did Heroes chart so low in 1977? His early 1980 releases entered the chart very high and went In at no1 after 1/2 weeks.

Combined/Weighted

Justin Beiber - Love Yourself 1.000

David Bowie - Heroes 0.955

Should be #1 combined in the next update.
