August 1, 20169 yr That is an old studio album by Simple Minds Not a Best Of Must be a remastered version
August 1, 20169 yr Hang on... Simple Minds, didn't know they had anything new out, mind you the release looks like a collection from the 80s, must bag that collection myself. I love their material especially the 80s era. Hang on again... bit pricey for £20, that's going to fall quite a fair bit by the end of the week. It's a deluxe re-issue of an old album of theirs from '82. I actually bought the big 6-disc box version which was the bargain price of £39.99  (I got some birthday money which paid for it). I imagine it'll be almost entirely front-loaded though, so it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up at like #56 or something like that on Friday...
August 1, 20169 yr Author What does front loaded mean :o Where most of its sales come from nearer to its release date and it doesn't sell consistently for a certain time length, basically. With the example of Simple Minds, most of its sales have come from its pre-orders and it will likely sell very little for the rest of the week. If a song sold 10k on its first day of release, but then 3k on its second, then 2k, then 1k, then 500 copies etc. it would be referred to as "front-loaded".
August 1, 20169 yr Lots of media coverage that Viola Beach are at #1 in the mids which should help sales further along with the 'Boys That Sing' animated video. Pleased that all 3 singles and 2 albums from Twenty One Pilots are all moving
August 1, 20169 yr Viola Beach are a cert for number 1 now. Overall, both charts are extremely dull this week. :(
August 1, 20169 yr Christine and the Queens Album sales up again this week so far (admittedly marginally from last week), an impressive run which will hopefully culminate in taking advantage of the low Sales climate in the next few weeks to secure the top spot.
August 1, 20169 yr at least Viola Beach will have decent sales for the #1 this week, they must be the first band to have their debut album released posthumously and reach #1 too.
August 2, 20169 yr If they weren't dead no one would give a toss about them Shame for the artist - selling only because of death, and customers - buying only because an artist has died
August 2, 20169 yr If they weren't dead no one would give a toss about them Shame for the artist - selling only because of death, and customers - buying only because an artist has died Or maybe it's because the album is actually good and people like the music on it?
August 2, 20169 yr Whilst I admit, I may not have heard of them at this point if they hadn't tragically died, the album is actually really good. It gives me vibes of 2006/7 which is never a bad thing. I doubt anyone has parted with money just because they died.
August 2, 20169 yr Will the "Who Do You Think Of? EP" that M.O released yesterday count towards the single sales? It has the standard version, an acoustic version and two other songs for £2.49, if that matters. If so, they should have their Top 20 secured. Edited August 2, 20169 yr by fleisch
August 2, 20169 yr M O coming for that much deserved Top 20 hit finally then! Top 15 on iTunes, EP Top 20 and Top 30 on Spolltify :cheer:
August 3, 20169 yr Looking forward to seeing sales for Viola Beach - The physical seems to have taken retailers by surprise, sold out on Amazon & HMV and not stocked by supermarkets so maybe more interest than anticipated and could stick around for a while?
August 3, 20169 yr For those who are worrying that 'Cold Water' is going to stay at #1 for about 10 weeks, fear not. It appears that Justin Bieber will be challenging to knock himself off soon as he's releasing a new song with DJ Snake this Friday. 2016 could well be the year of Bieber.
August 3, 20169 yr Album re-release or DJ Snake track? I know the DJ Snake album is out this Friday!!
