Dave Clark Band - Glad All Over  39

An 60's track entering the iTunes top 40 on Christmas week *.* (good one too) Any reason why this so high?

Now on iTunes,

22 The Dave Clark Five Glad All Over

Apparently a documentary on BBC Four last Friday.

Also in a TV advert.

Combined/weighted top three right now, Rag'n'Bone Man pulling away at a fast rate now - I'd assume he's definitely in with a shot of #1 next week at this rate! Touch also looking strong for top 3 next week.

1. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human [1.0000]

2. Little Mix - Touch [0.7868]

3. Clean Bandit ft Sean Paul & Anne-Marie [0.7473]

It seems that "Glad All Over" is being boosted by Rangers fans, in order to attempt to outpeak the Celtic fans' single in this week's Christmas chart.

It's not the first time this has happened - if you recall a few years ago Rangers got "The Best" by Tina Turner into the charts, Celtic fans responded by trying to get "You'll Never Walk Alone" into the charts the same week.

I really don't like this sort of one-upsmanship within the charts, especially when it involves two groups of individuals whose motives are not music-related.

So The Dave Clark Five is climbing so fast because of an advert?

(Edit, I missed Brett-Butler's post)

Nice to see Shawn Mendes' father Sergio is in the top 100 :)

I only recently learned that Celtic, along with other clubs in Europe use that as a terrace anthem as well as Liverpool :)

I don't think they are related :P

Sergio Mendes of course had a hit single about ten years ago with Mas Que Nada :music:

That Dave Clark song is coming for iTunes #1 then?

When I saw that on iTunes I thought he passed away. I actually don't mind it, its a great song. I just wish it wasn't used as a terrace anthem at football stadiums

Dave Clark now at #4 :o

iTunes #1 seems like a real possibility, perhaps it could re-enter the official top 40 too?

although if the whole point is to one-up the Celtic campaign they've already succeeded now as 'Grace (Green Brigade)' only peaked at #17 and it's now at #92, so they can stop buying it now.
But without any streaming sales will DC5 enter the Top 40 chart on Friday?
It's have to sell 16,000 downloads to comfortably make the top 40 which seems unlikely. It's sold approx 2k so far (digital sales data)
