I don't get why people prefer Spotify to Apple Music when (as far as I'm aware) it's cheaper, has a larger catalogue and is far more user friendly.

Both Apple Music and Spotify are £9.99 and both offer a £4.99 student discount.

Both streaming service monthly prices will probably go up too though, this means.
Airplay will never be added unless the OCC want to ruin their credibility.

Soundcloud and Beatport could be added though.....

So apparently iTunes prices are likely to go up soon (thanks Brexit). Another nail in the coffin for paid for downloads.

Not all too surprising given that they've been pushing up their prices across all their products. Hopefully it won't be the final nail in the coffin for downloads and that people just transition to Google Play/Amazon for their downloads instead.

I somehow doubt the OCC will waste their time implementing two new platforms that'd make no noticeable difference whatsoever :P

(they've already got Apple Music for that, ha ha hee hee ho ho~)

Billboard has recently started counting Soundcloud I believe
Rebecca Ferguson album is up to #42 on Itunes! Any idea why?

May be because she pulled out of the Donald Trump inauguration :)

ITV News:

British singer and The X Factor alumni Rebecca Ferguson was invited to but won't be performing at the inauguration.

 10. Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello - Bad Things

 17. Dua Lipa - Be the One :o

Hopefully Be the One can be added to Radio 1's a-list on Friday as well as being reduced to 59p!

Also I don't think Soundcloud can really be compared to services like Spotify, Apple Music, etc so I don't think it should be counted to the chart.

Most people I know use Free Spotify

Is there a free Apple Music?

But this news is like 2 weeks old or so? It has been steadily climbing recently.

Update: Aww I know why! 'Superwoman' (track) has been A-listed on BBC Radio 2! Yeass, go get that smash RF  Plus it's climbing at the radio overall

Familiarity probably helps. "Spotify" seems to even be getting used as a verb in the same way "Google" is ("why don't you spotify it?" / "why don't you google it?").

Ooh i wasn't aware, suppose it probably does make more of a difference there- i know a lot of the big hip hop singles around (Bad and Boujee/Caroline etc) get a pretty high amount of streams each week

 3. Jax Jones

On one of my local commercial radio stations (quite a big station tbh) I heard it with the 'f**k yeah' not edited out :o, anyone else heard this?

I understand why it is doing so well, with the excellent vocal, but the instrumentation is sadly rather boring and minimalistic, with a few generic pitched vocals thrown in too and a few similarly generic future bass sound effects in the breakdown.

So sadly I can't really get on board with this, even though it is undoubtedly for me an improvement on the tropical house and future bass we currently have.

Soundcloud should definitely be counted I think.....it may make a faster chart as what is popular on soundcloud isn't always the same as what is on Spotify, meaning more potential for new entries.

I don't think Soundcloud has as much subscribers as Spotify, maybe a tenth of it or even less. So even if it would count wouldn't make much difference to the chart.

Ah no, that's true, I forgot about Spotify's free version. The adverts are a drawback but I suppose it;'s the same as watching TV or listening to the radio.

It's because it's one of those songs where you don't notice the swearing which is why every time "Fastlove" is played on the radio, it never edits out the word bullshit

Or it just isn't actually swearing - I thought it was "f**k yeah" but it obviously isn't or the label would have removed it on the radio edit?

So it has the what may or may not be f**k yeah bit on Radio 1 too :o . I haven't listened recently.

There was an example in Robin Thicke ft Kendrick Lamar - Give It 2 You where the word d**k isn't edited out on the radio version.

Also in Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, d**k wasn't edited out originally in the radio edit iirc which is weird but understandably the word 'gun' in the context of 'she brings a gun to school' was.

The best one was Chase and Status ft Delilah - Time where 'I'm fooking suffocating' was used in the radio edit
