February 12, 20178 yr Take That - Rule The World (#2, 2007) Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing (#4, 1998) S Club 7 - Reach (#2, 2000) I think Joe Bloggs would probably assume that these all went to the top!
February 12, 20178 yr  What was S Club beaten by? Hated that school song!! Sonique's It Feels So Good for all three weeks! I know Reach has still sold less overall but I practically never hear Sonique anymore whereas Reach has transcended into eternal popular culture, I still hear it mentioned or played regularly.
February 12, 20178 yr But Sonique's song was a 90s dance masterpiece and far superior - glad it was a song like that that held off that pap.

Kiss often play it during their 'Kisstory' hour and it's a regular on Heart's Club Classics.
February 12, 20178 yr Surely this decade's best known song is Let It Go? That didn't even make the top 10! 1960s: My Way 1970s: Stayin' Alive 1980s: Last Christmas 1990s: Wonderwall 2000s: Chasing Cars/Mr Brightside 2010s: Let It Go
February 12, 20178 yr All I Want For Christmas Is You HAS to be one of the biggest tbh along with Stop. Everyone knew the indie songs NEVER topped the charts with the odd exception like Ruby so Chasing Cars not topping it would honestly not be a surprise to most people. Katy Perry's E.T and Dark Horse and Teenage Dream not getting there or Lady GaGa's Alejandro would surprise people more IMO.
February 12, 20178 yr I would argue that Queen have three songs more well known than "Don't Stop Me Know" that peaked at number 2, "We Are The Champions", "We Will Rock You", "Radio Gaga". EDIT - In fairness to BillyH he did mention those songs as well 😀 Edited February 12, 20178 yr by timjimlee
February 12, 20178 yr I'd add all these to the list: Natalie Imbruglia - Torn New Order - Blue Monday The Who - My Generation Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony Radiohead - Creep Kelis - Milkshake Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven I know the latter wasn't released as a single anyway, but I'd be surprised if anyone can't recognise it by name (guys don't make me feel old by not knowing any of these :x) Love The Way You Lie is another one for the 2010s definitely, it was the best selling song of the year despite never reaching the top! In fact The Who never had a number one at all...from any of their singles.
February 12, 20178 yr The Flood by take that is another one from them that I think people would generally think was a no.1 hit, still don't know myself how it failed it was a sure fire no.1 hit. Robbie's had a few other hits I'd argue that people think have been no1 but Feel and Let Me Entertain You are probably the main two, aside from Angels. I think from this decade we've had a lot of massive songs that haven't reached the top yet you'd think they would have; Kesha - Tik Tok Gaga - Born This Way Pink - Give Me A Reason Passenger - Let Her Go Bastille - Pompeii Taylor Swift - Shake It Off/ I Knew You Were Trouble Labrinth - Earthquake John Legend - All Of Me George Ezra - Budapest
February 13, 20178 yr Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes Third Eye Blind - Semi Charmed Life Smash Mouth - All Star Barenaked Ladies - One Week Pearl Jam - Even Flow Radiohead - Paranoid Android Blondie - One Way Or Another
February 13, 20178 yr Correct me if I'm wrong but I'd say Beyoncé's Halo (#4) & Single Ladies (#7) are pretty well-known in the U.K. Edited February 13, 20178 yr by Haribo
February 13, 20178 yr Spice Girls - Stop The first 10 singles by Spice Girls are all very well known, but Stop is a clear standout and when they reunited in 2007, it was the 'old song' that they performed most to promote the Greatest Hits
