February 27, 20179 yr Tbh I'm shocked that Take That managed to get as high as #4 in the first place... *ah, the Official Charts site has it wrong. Its peak should be #13, not #4. Even so, a nearly-60-place drop is impressive - in a bad way! Edited February 27, 20179 yr by 360Jupiter

Even so, a nearly-60-place drop is impressive - in a bad way! #4 is where it was in last week's Monday midweeks, not officially. The chart is actually looking relatively fresh. Long-runners like 'Say You Won't Let Go', 'Sexual' and 'Starboy' have all had huge falls.
February 27, 20179 yr  at Take That in the singles chart. Week 2 is worse than i feared, and it is likely it will fall further. at Take That Ultimate Collection as high as number 58.
February 27, 20179 yr Stormzy getting his entire album in the top 100 (though I guess 'Crazy Titch' will drop out) and 7 songs in the top 40 is exactly why the OCC need to do something about albums creeping into the singles chart. Don't get me wrong I like Stormzy but 'Solo Dance' would be set to climb this week if it weren't for his album tracks taking up the singles chart. Nonetheless it is nice to see somewhat of a clearout with new entries from Lana Del Rey, Zedd, Jason Derulo and Calvin Harris as well.
February 27, 20179 yr So if stormzy can get possibly 7 songs top 40 this week I'm dreading ed next week
February 27, 20179 yr So if stormzy can get possibly 7 songs top 40 this week I'm dreading ed next week I was just thinking that. Ed's entire album is going to be Top 40 isn't it. Maybe even Top 20 Awful
February 27, 20179 yr I don't mind so much with Ed, for one chart, it's cute, etc. Like with the Lemonade tracks. What worries me, is, especially with Spotify, how long it'll hold up. Like weeks on end of loads of Ed songs in the top 10 because of Spotify won't be fun.

Oh I wouldn't mind if it I had to put up with it for just one week either but it's obvious that they'll linger around.
February 27, 20179 yr A potential rule I've been thinking about is excluding tracks from the singles chart that don't have at least >10% of their combined sales from downloads/physicals. I'm not sure how long it would be viable but it would (I'd think) prevent album tracks from charting. On the week that the Weeknd album charted (2 December) that would have removed: 17 “Party Monster” (7 % sales) 26 “Rockin’” (3 % sales) 30 “Sidewalks” (6 % sales) 39 “Reminder” (5 % sales) It would mean we were just left with “Big For Your Boots” and “Shut Up” from Stormzy, and I am not against an artist dominating for a week on album release.
February 27, 20179 yr Wait till bieber drops his next album, he might very well make up half the top 40 chart #sigh
February 27, 20179 yr Calvin Harris looks like missing the top10 this week. When was the last time prior to an album coming out?
February 27, 20179 yr A potential rule I've been thinking about is excluding tracks from the singles chart that don't have at least >10% of their combined sales from downloads/physicals. I'm not sure how long it would be viable but it would (I'd think) prevent album tracks from charting. That would also exclude singles that are popular from Spotify playlists but haven't been given a download push, which wouldn't be good imo. I think they should nominate which songs have their streams counted towards the singles chart and which should count towards the albums chart, therefore excluding all of Stormzy's tracks (except for the two singles) from the singles chart (which at the moment can't really be called a singles chart). I am dreading the thought of multiple Ed Sheeran album tracks staying in the top 40 for months due to streaming, I mean fair enough if they're selling well too (see 'Thinking Out Loud' when that was just an album track) but if it's clear that these songs are getting streams because of people listening to the album then they should not qualify for the singles chart.
February 27, 20179 yr I'd rather implement a rule that if a user listens to more than 75% (or 50% or else) tracks off the album those streams are not counted in the singles chart and only count in the album chart.
February 27, 20179 yr Calvin Harris looks like missing the top10 this week. When was the last time prior to an album coming out? his Dizzee Rascal collab 'Hype' last July made the dizzying heights of... #34. although if you're talking actual Calvin singles that featured on his albums however, you have to go way back to 'Acceptable In The 80's' which debuted at #32, though rose to #10 two weeks later. remember though that the majority of his pre-album releases were not in the OA/OS era!
February 27, 20179 yr I'd rather implement a rule that if a user listens to more than 75% (or 50% or else) tracks off the album those streams are not counted in the singles chart and only count in the album chart. This 1000% I think its good that anything can chart Like when Lana made the top 40 with Gods & monsters Cos of Eastenders even if it were an album track With The Weeknd/Stormzy People are clearly streaming the whole album or most of it, so should count for the albums chart Not both especially singles
February 27, 20179 yr That would also exclude singles that are popular from Spotify playlists but haven't been given a download push, which wouldn't be good imo. Not necessarily, even “Solo Dance” would not fall foul of that rule and that was bumped a massive 25 places by streaming this week. It's a really low threshold that only knocked out long running hits, e.g. “One Dance” or really huge disparities like The Vamps “All Night” but those are the only tracks I can see that would be excluded.
February 27, 20179 yr I think Ed's effect will be just as big/bigger than a Bieber release tbh It might be if Bieber releases an album very soon but likely by the time he releases his next album the singles chart will basically be exclusively streaming. Edited February 27, 20179 yr by sammy01
