March 6, 20178 yr I actually find it kind of funny more than annoying. I mean, it just looks ridiculous seeing that many songs from one artist in the Top 40.
March 6, 20178 yr What records will Ed break this week? 1. Most Top 10 hits simultaneously? 2. Most Top 10 hits from an album? 3. Most Top 20 hits simultaneously? 4. Most charting singles from an album? Etc., etc., I guess Stormzy will be breaking the record of most Songs by one Artist leaving the Top 40 in a week.
March 6, 20178 yr It's funny though, we had 2 to 4 new entries per week since whenever, and now out of nowhere we have 16 new entries. I hope we will have 16+ new entries inside top 40 again more often but for god sake not for one artist. :w00t:
March 6, 20178 yr Author I've added Music Week sales - they gave sales for the whole Top 11 this week!
March 6, 20178 yr This is a mess..When people used to count how many top 10 singles Madonna, Britney, Michael Jackson etc have, it kind of makes it pointless now
March 6, 20178 yr On the contrary this will actually be the most interesting Chart Show for years for me. I'm just so looking forward to how Greg is going to present it. Plus it'll be the one of the most unique top 40s ever. OK after this week it'll be bloody awful but for this one week I'm truly in awe! Elsewhere Martin Jensen the ONLY climber :cheer: what a hero! (Think how close it'd be to the top 10 though but for Ed, I think it still stands a reasonable chance of getting there at some point anyway) I guess Stormzy will be breaking the record of most Songs by one Artist leaving the Top 40 in a week. Beyoncé lost 5 tracks in the third week of Lemonade (only Hold Up remained) & Bieber lost 4 or 5 a few weeks after Purpose (I think his 3 number 1's, Company & I'll Show You remained while the others all left) so yeah I'd make Stormzy losing 6 which would be a record.
March 6, 20178 yr do you guys know how many sales he got from streams on day 1? the 232K is pure sales only, right?
March 6, 20178 yr That is pretty fascinating to see, however farcical the whole thing is. Probably be the only time we'll see it too as I'm certain the OCC will want to change something after this! God forbid when the inevitable deluxe version comes...
March 6, 20178 yr Truly ridiculous. I hope the OCC receive a ton of complaints so they have to do something about it. Well, the most important OCC consumer (from OCC point of view) are the labels, and I think no one bar Atlantic is happy about the state of the chart this week and even more so that this is not going away in 1,2,3 or more - no one even knows how many months. Even Atlantic may not be happy, as they need to promote other artists, not just Ed.

It's weird because the four 'new' tracks from the Wembley Editon of x had no impact whatsoever, anywhere. Weird how much more public demand for anything new by him became just because he took one year out. (Though not that those four songs were up to much, they sounded like leftovers so probably were).
March 6, 20178 yr I guess they could solve the issue by only counting subscription-based streams? As I'm sure a large number of streams (particularly from spotify) come from free users. It'd erode a good chunk of streams off song totals and lessen the grip of streaming on the chart a bit more.
March 6, 20178 yr How f***ing ridiculous. RIP chart credibility. The UK cares for you not. Edited March 6, 20178 yr by T Boy

March 6, 20178 yr It's funny though, we had 2 to 4 new entries per week since whenever, and now out of nowhere we have 16 new entries. I can see only 15 new entries. :o Also don't think the new Little Mix single will remain top 40 by Friday, so it will be 'only' 14 new entries. The only good news this week is that Shape of You sales has been decreased from last week's Monday midweeks 60,100 to this week's 56,469 :yahoo: Edited March 6, 20178 yr by Jason

It'd erode a good chunk of streams off song totals and lessen the grip of streaming on the chart a bit more. If you did that, you'd lose all my free streams of non-Sheeran music though! At time of writing, I'm actually streaming the Number One single from 40 years ago this week, which isn't going to be challenging for a T40 place now, but there's a principle there. I genuinely don't know whether paid or free streamers are more likely to listen to full albums.
March 6, 20178 yr Could they change it before the chart is released on Friday, or if they decide will it be after?
March 6, 20178 yr Ed has achieved 22 Top 40 hits between 2011 - 2017, that figure will now increase by over 50% to 35 on Friday
