Seeing the chart in the Spotify/ Download thread topic earlier this morning with all the Drake tracks really was a bit of a eye opener to begin with, now looking at the official chart it looks much better bearing in mind with the late arrival of Drake. I think its not going to be much of an issue with Drake dominating the top 40 later in the week, as other members have pointed out. On the bright side of things there is 1 new entry and 3 tracks getting new peaks inside the top 10, and most of the Ed Sheeran's tracks have started to fall away, the top 10 does look a lot fresher. Most of us seem to be panicking over nothing
PTA - 32,505

SOTU - 30,537

Delta Machine - 28,450

for a perfect progression, the new one should do 26.5K :)

Gutted for Frances. That album should be top 10
Surprised Zara isn't doing so good. I expected a 25k opening considering how many hits she has.

In general, people buy songs because they like the particular song, but they buy albums because they like the artist.

This week's album chart new entries are brought to you by a Mike Leigh film...

Just shows once again that it's easier to get a big single that people can listen to for free on a playlist and contribute to its chart position for weeks on end - in the albums chart where sales count more than streams it shows which artists people are actually willing to spend ££ on to get their album.

Vera is looking to overtake Depeche Mode by Friday regardless of her birthday boost tbh, it was outselling them comfortably yesterday!

Depeche Mode are a classic act and so they will always do well on the first mids - can't see them selling much more than 5k over the rest of the week!

I don't know what people expected from Zara, I'd be delighted if she opened with anything with 15,000+ sales which is looking quite likely!

I'm actually surprised Zara's doing as well as she is, I thought 'So good' killed a lot of momentum after the other singles doing so well. Symphony and Sundown (*.*) smashing should hopefully keep the album afloat.

Shame really given the excellent Reviews they have had for this Album and especially as they actually have something significant to say. Also thought the James Ford production might have tempted some AM fans.

How did clean bandit do on their album debut I don't remember the album being massive and that had a few big hits at the time so I'm guessing Zara not doing too bad

Rita ora did massive on singles original but a moderate success on albums

Ok zara doing ok me thinks

Vera Lynn will definitely be #2 officially - although it's currently sold out on Amazon.

Shame that Ed will prevent her becoming the oldest living singer to achieve a #1.

Agree, Zara should either have released this earlier or post-Symphony - although it might gain more sales after another successful single, and fake being a new release album then.

Releasing alongside I Would Like would've been sensible.

Mixed reviews, #3 peak, three unsuccessful singles released pre-Rather Be, 100k copies sold as of this year across an original edition, deluxe edition, and special edition with bonus tracks.

So, not bad, but not brilliant. They've got more momentum going in behind this one, you'd think.
