Train are actually 50 places higher on Spotify than Disciples. They were also higher on Spotify than Disciples are now when they were top 10 on sales. Yet overall they only entered in the low 20s. Correlation is Disciples streaming total may well mean they miss the top 40 because I always think Thursday streams are over-weighted and seem to have a bigger effect on the chart compared to Wed/Thurs update than maybe they should do
So his second single may make it clearer as to what longevity he has as a solo star

Well, of course it was 20 years ago, in a different market but Robbie's management specifically adhered the output of Angels single.

They had a strategy for gradually presentation of the album and Robbie-solo artist.

They felt they had done everything right even when the albums sales were not so great firstly but in parallel they had a sold-out tour so they jsut wait for a right moment for Angels.

And when people were amazed by Angels they released Let Me Entertain You and parallely Rob and Guy had already started to prepare the new album. They didn't want to stop the process. And they made it every 9 years in a row - to bring something new to audience.

So definitely he got all this success.

So in other words everything depends on Harry's (prepared) material and his personal ambitions. If he will have at least two great songs in near future and ready to work hard he will get success. If not - then not. This is a very fast life and business.

Anyway, I really think his current single is a very good start for him. I'm not fan of 1D at all, and had never heard any of their albums (I only liked History single) but Harry surprised me by this song I wish him good luck and be strong and diverse. And do not be afraid to be strange otherwise it will be ordinary.

Train's song is an established hit whereas Disciples is only now starting to break.

Interesting insight, I'd always thought it was odd that the record company never pushed Angles after his second single only just managed the top 10 and his album wasnt really selling well. But even so, Let Me Entertain you would have been a better lead single and would have set the stage for the rest of the album.

Back to the current charts, I think Harry will just about take it this week with it being a straight up but very close battle between Symphony and Galway Girl next week unless something comes out the blue. Either way I think GG will eventually reach no.1 at some point when the video drops and promo starts.

But he's saying that when the Train track was breaking, it went top 10 on iTunes but nowhere on Spotify

Is it that important? :D

Yes, 3k is really important to decide which single will be number 1 this Friday. :drama:

By the way, I would still bet all my money on Harry this week. :yahoo:

Next weeks battle will be between 'Shape Of You' and 'Symphony'. 'Symphony' will no doubt be #1 on Spotify come Friday but it will still need to close the huge gap 'Shape Of You' has on Spotify due to the Stormzy remix. The only way I can see 'Galway Girl' getting number one next week is if he drops the music video / discounts it to 59p.
Train from time to time deliver some great chart runs. Some of their singles dont achieve high "high" peaks but have longevity, but they never seem to be able to have hits back to back.
Is this gonna be the first week the new ratio actually affects the number 1

I was thinking the same, it's a fluke for Styles, just this week he could get a #1, and even that wasn't sure with the previous ratio.

I was in favour of the new ratio because it makes downloads more relevant, but this week I'd prefer the old ratio.

Ed was out in Galway yesterday shooting his Video, he's certainly predictable our Ed. May be a stretch to edit in time for next week but if there is half a chance 'Galway Girl' can get to number 1 I'm sure it will get rush released.

How to make Harry Styles number one?

To make them Ed Sheeran support artist

I honestly don't think the video is going to make any difference at all. They're already showing the lyric video on TV so it's not like airplay will increase.

Saoirse Ronan will appear in Video, I wouldn't be so sure it will have no impact. Wouldn't be surprised to see Released at same time as a Remix of the track as well.

As a reminder, due to Bank Holiday Monday, OCC might not update their site till Tuesday, MW will probably have a day off and Radio 1 are not likely to broadcast the update chart, for the latest mids information next week will most likely be Tuesday, so we have a longer wait next week to get mids :drama:

On that note I bid everyone a happy Easter weekend.
