What I do with different versions/remixes is (and I've done this with Bury It as nominated above) is that I tag it without any remix or extra feat tags and allow you to think you're voting for whichever version you like better, to save people spending nominations to get their preferred version of a song in the mix. A track nominated for ROTD is nominating all versions of that song. So for Bury It, I won't tag on the Hayley Williams feature but if you like it because of that then vote for it as if it were that.

 

Them being in different years is tricky but I'll rule that it goes in the original release year. And then if anyone sees it in 2015 and prefers the Alessia Cara version, they can pretend it's that version.

 

Be The One is a classic case of a song that does become ineligible yes, but because... bear with me here, it was released prior to one full year before 2017, for this year, I'll allow it to be nominated for 2015, in future ROTDs, it'll be moved to 2017. That's because it could have been nominated last year. Moving years doesn't ALWAYS happen when a track repeaks (One Last Time will stay 2015 of course and Lady Antebellum - Need You Now will always be 2010) but I just use a bit of common sense and Be The One had no 2015 presence. But it's only tracks that were released in the previous year and already peaked in the current year I keep out.

And yes, because of the system I use, big hits from the end of the last year often don't have enough points to make it into the Multichart top 35 but storm the first round of voting. I fully expect Rockabye to do just that, at least if my preconceptions about its popularity here are right.
