yeah, looking at how low sales are, I'd say Sam Smith is in for a low top 5 debut from curiosity buys and streams alone. Same with Little Mix, if the song gets a push from the off it'll debut in the top 10.

(Bieber will obviously be #1 from the start and Taylor could very well debut at #1 too)

Justin Bieber isn't THAT much bigger than Taylor that his like 4th or 5th week surely? I'll be LIVID if he does, he puts out some bangers but I am SO fed up of him commanding #1 with virtually everything he releases, we've just had Despacito for 11 weeks :drama: I agree though because it's getting to the busier period I'm not sure he'll be #1 quite that long, rumours are that Taylor is dropping next wee in which case she won't debut at #1, but I think she could build to #1 say 3/4 weeks post release. I know the 1989 era was different as she had the less than ideal relationship with Spotify, but Shake It Off took something like 9 weeks to peak at 2
I'd be surprised if Bieber held Taylor off tbh, I think she'll be onto huge sales. The only doubt is if the rumours are true and Taylor is releasing this Friday, then I'd be unsure as to who would win!

tbh I'd love Bieber and Taylor to release at the same time (it's something that I could feasily see her doing as well lool  bless her) - I think initially Taylor would debut at #1 and then Bieber would overtake after a week or two.

in terms of debuts, I could see Justin clearing ~95k first week, and Taylor ~105k.

I'd actually love it if they both released this week purely to see their battle for number 1, I feel Taylor could edge it because there's more hype around her return, she's been in the news recently as well with the groping trial so that could peak more interest, whereas Justin has recently had two number 1s so their might not be as much hype for his single

Hard to gauge without hearing what Justin's song sounds like. But Its going be pretty hard for him to miss no.1 given everything he releases seems to go there at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does something similar to WDYM in that he might have several stints at no.1 with perhaps Taylor, Clean Bandit, Sam Smith sneaking in a week here and there. I can see Mi Gente becoming a big hit in the coming weeks as well.

I really hope this is the start of a busy Q4 with lots of blockbuster releases, its been years since we've had a nice proper busy run up to Christmas.

Little Mix really need to take a break.

...why?

'Glory Days' has been a pretty standard album campaign; it just so happens that all four singles were big hits. They're hardly Bieber-levels of ubiquitous. Hell, even Dua Lipa has released 5 singles and featured on 2 since 2016 (although I imagine you wouldn't be opposed to her taking a break either, being a pop act and all).

About a year or two ago I would have said the same thing but now I'm not bothered by them as much as before. Though with The X Factor coming soon I guess we can expect them to appear multiple times during the live shows and be their usual in your face selves.

That would be an interesting chart battle, I would imagine Taylor getting the #1 single over JB to be honest, as her music catalogue has not been on Spotify until now.

Bieber's new single should open on some huge total, anywhere from like 125-150k would be my guess. Taylor will surely grab at least a week or so at the top whenever her new one's out (which I can only assume won't be the same week as JB!)

Sam Smith I reckon will fare better than Emeli. It felt like he was a slightly bigger singles artist, there's no reason he can't come back with a smash (as long as it has mass pop appeal/fits in with today's charts, which 'Hurts' kinda didn't)

This Little Mix x Cnco thing should make the top 5 as will Clean Bandit's next track based on their current hot streak

From today's midweek flash it looks like Dua Lipa should get a second week at number 1! But with sales so low a lot can change between now and Friday..
I think it'll be Dua, then Taylor then Little Mix
