Apparantley Adele had been asking those that run the venue and ticket promoters for weeks to postpone/reschedule. But they didn't give the go ahead until yesterday. :(

For the average artist - yes. For Adele - No. I'm sure Sony's expectations for the album were much higher before the era started.

 

Just scrolling back, this is a stupid comment. These sales are still good for Adele. For the average artist, they'd be remarkable.

 

No one at Sony would have expected much better with streaming vs sales being what they are in the current climate. Did anyone actually think she'd hit 25's opening few weeks? It's impossible in this day and age.

 

Her first two months of sales have been remarkable when you look at what sales are like these days.

I’d like to think she’ll be doing SOMETHING for the fans who have travelled across the globe to see her?

This so much, I would be livid if it were me it’s taken up peoples annual leave not to mention cost a bomb in hotels flights and the overpriced tickets! I saw Cher in vegas and it was not cheap (amazing though).

Yeah....no. That's great that girl is happy and shit but I've read posts on Reddit and on social media of other people absolutely fuming who are struggling to get refunds from Ticketmaster and other providers. A Facetime is cute but again, she should be there in person doing stuff.

 

Celebrity worship is seriously messed up. There's too many people actually apologising TO ADELE and telling her not to worry about it and that it's okay. Just because some people are happy to be in Vegas and are happy with a Facetime doesn't mean everyone else is. It's completely f***ing unacceptable. You don't pay a business for a service and then apologise to them for not getting the work done on time and let them off the hook like that.

 

Again, I hope her team will be forking out to cover the hotel and flight expenses of those who travelled thousands of miles and took annual leave to do so?

Yeah I have to agree. I do feel somewhat for Adele and I believe she was sincere in her apologies, but her team will have known the show wouldn’t be ready for weeks. I get covid has messed things up but that’s something you should consider when you’re planning on putting on a series of shows in this climate. Surely they have back up or can hire new crew? When you’re charging that much for tickets and taking home £500k a night, you don’t get the right to f*** up this royally.

There’s obviously lots that has gone on behind the scenes that we don’t know about and, especially for a Vegas residency, there’s gonna have been a lot of key players. At least one of those players has massively f***ed up (likely insisting the show go ahead despite it never being in a position to do so), especially given the whole residency is postponed. This is more than Covid!

 

It did seem like it was announced very close to when it was due to take place, and particularly placing it in the middle of an album campaign was a interesting choice.

If they had held 30 back from streaming services, like with 25, do we think it would have resulted in higher 1st week sales and more consistent sales over Xmas or would it have hindered this due to the amount of people who only use steaming now?

Uff she really is over after all of this :( Also, stopping the ENTIRE CAMPAIGN to do Vegas shows for her greedy label was just bonkers.

I think streaming is just too big now for her to have done that. Her sales may have been slightly higher on release week but not too much more than what she did and potentially the drop in sales after debut week may have been bigger but its hard to tell.

 

I presume Beyonce who also used to hold back on streaming sites like Spotify and Apple on debut week wont do the same when her next era drops as well and she'll just be straight on everything.

Graham Norton should be interesting - as I'm sure questions around the residency will come up.

Agreed I have to say she's not really played this one right at all, she could have at least turned up and done something even if it was just a couple of acoustic performances with a Q&A session or something . If she had come out and said "I'm sorry we haven't been able to prepare the show you were expecting to see but i'm going to turn up and give you the best we can put together at short notice..." there would have been no criticism.

when in truth it was cos of creative differences, she showed she can be a bit fake and dishonest with her posts

as someone who travels a lot to gigs abroad, I can understand the frustration of fans
