I really don't think Sam Smith is going to do that well, I think his new single will do a 'Friends' at best tbh.

I'm hoping you're right...It went to #1 quite fast though.

Oh, I didn't realise. It was showing stalled at #12 for me.

Never mind then, looks like he will get #01 most likely, especially with his Spotify deal  :(.

You lot can be a bit dramatic :D :D

The Sam Smith song is quite nice and will most likely sell loads. The public see things differently than we enthusiasts do, he's here to stay I think. I'm not too bothered and think he is okay but dont want him to be overplayed again.

I don't think we need to worry about this getting overplayed to the same degree as Stay With Me has and still is. Time will tell I guess.

Nadine is #25 on iTunes! I know it'll drop like a stone later today, but I'm surprised to see it higher than Kelly Clarkson!
On the contrary I think this was the most obvious comeback Sam could do. Song will keep the fans from his first album interested and help sell the follow up. He can save the more creative tracks for follow up singles.

You only got to look at artists like Emeli Sande with her follow up. If she lead with Breathing Underwater and Highs & Lows, I imagine Long Live The Angels would still be selling ok now.

Exactly.

Also I think it's a nice track, and very Sam Smith. Why change it if it ain't broken? Adele knew that. Although I say that and she led album 2 with "Rolling In The Deep"...

Sam Smith already ripped off 'Rolling In The Deep' wholesale with his single 'Like I Can'.

34. Nadine - Go to Work

Where did Mollie peak? 😏

#36 I'm thinking? Before slumping down.

Hello was a triumph though, I'm not an Adele fan neither am generally big on ballads, but it was a huge ballad comeback and earworm, undeniable, despite not being a huge departure for her. Sam Smith has not achieved this.
I don't understand all this hype for Megan McKenna, didn't realise her ITV2 show was so popular!

It wasn't it only got 120k views and it was on ITVbe and apparently that's pretty bad view figures for that channel

Well bad compared to towie

Sam's song isn't that bad but its not the best either. Granted he's played it a bit too safe but there's been far worse comeback singles this year.

Zayn & Sia's song is annoyingly good. I've never liked any of his stuff especially that one he did with taylor which sounds like two alley cats screeching. But can see this one being a slow burning hit. Love to see what radio1 call Tove Lo's song if its playlisted

I wonder if there's a bit of Kamaliya in Megan's success...I am skeptical.
I still don't understand how she's doing so well either, I guess just word of mouth and the 'shock factor' of 'reality TV star who can actually sing'.
Kelly up to 39 and 83 hopefully it's because people didn't realise she was out yesterday :cheer: :cheer:

I doubt they'll playlist it tbh, although on the slim chance they do playlist a heavily edited version of it, they'll probably just call it 'Disco'

I'm sure Megan's success is genuine, I imagine she only needed 10k of her 600k+ Twitter following to download the tracks to get her to a comfortable #1 for a day or two.

Disco Chips would be a good substitute for the name.

Because tits and chips are so similar?
