Yeah I thought that when the articles say they don’t want any snippets of the video music released but could imagine RFI using a kebab shop setting

With the man behind the counter handing her a polystyrene box going "are you ready for it?"

It amazes me that X Factor take a whole year nearly before they release the first non winners single by the winner when they clearly are no longer in the spotlight! ....... Matt Terry on course to miss the top 100 is embarrassing...... I really like him and feel bad for him.... they really need to stop taking so long to release music from the winners. Maybe it will climb with a live shows performance, I can see him being dropped pretty quickly!

Well you mean apart from the top 10 hit when he featured on the Enrique Remix

I don't count four lines as a single haha..... that song will be remembered as an enrique and Sean Paul song over time 😂

It’s funny...they’ve done this ever since Leona’s Bleeding Love in 2007 with only the odd exception. Fair enough if an act has clear superstar potential like Little Mix, Leona and even Alexandra then taking the time to make sure they are launched as a big deal is understandable. A marketable act like that is bound to do well with a killer debut single.

But most winners are forgotten about by March and the hype has all but vanished with no chance of it ever returning so this business model needs to be used sparingly on a case by case basis, not almost every time. I’d say for semi-popular winners with little originality or chance of superstardom, an April/May single release at the latest should be looked at, poor Matt has suffered with the long delay, just as Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle did.

Little Mix actually were one of the exceptions that they released a single from more quickly weren't they?

To be fair, that would of been a hit without Matt Terry's involvement. The hype of the remix just sped up the process.

Indeed, I meant to mention that. They were an exception to the rule though I think an October release and X Factor performance strategy would have worked just as well for them.

Even August (which I think is when Wings was released) is probably far too late for some of the blander winners, Matt should have been given the Shayne Ward treatment of an April first proper single I think, especially as his winning track was a Xmas song which had an even more limited shelf life than usual.

Except it probably wouldn't have - Capital only supported it because of Matt being managed by Global ie. the company that owns Capital, and Radio 1 didn't bother with it so I don't think it would've been a hit at all without Matt (even if his actual contribution was minor)

I think a year should be the album, so they get 2 singles out to establish themselves before it. I suppose it's different now though, the likes of Anne-Marie who've had a few hits have still yet to release an album and Dua Lipa took ages for example, it takes longer for labels to be sure that they can release the album to success. But ether way it's never going to really work waiting nearly a year to release the next single, people don't care at that point. It wouldn't hurt to have a proper original for the winner's single, something that fits each artist, to get them going straight away. I mean they probably will if Grace wins this series as she'll have originals ready to go.
Wow at ''Perfect'' already at #6. I wonder if music video will have big effect on it.

I think that’s the problem it worked with Leona so they thought it would work every year after and tbh it did give all a minor hit second single until sam bailey (who coincidentally rushed released an album that got number1) but they need to update the strategy, Louisa hasn’t even released an album yet :o B-)

Strangely, I think Shayne Ward (who won pre-Leona) would have benefitted from waiting until the live shows! His second single (and second era singles) did reasonably well, I think we could have had the first Leona if they’d have waited. The potential was certainly there, I’m sure he was touted as the British JT at the time!
