December 1, 20178 yr Séyetana always getting a song through TBO noms is an unwritten rule every bit as much as Aeroche getting a winner and being EOY #1. Even when it seems like it's about to not happen, it always inevitably happens. WD Iz x ('The Wolf' isn't the one I'd have chosen but it is good too ~) Exactly ~ It's also always the last contest I'm eligible for and a higher finisher of mine (or three in the case of last year) has already failed. You know for maximum tension in the results. Really thought I was done this time though, I'm sad for Chipland, I really wanted that in but I'll absolutely take The Wolf coming through well against the odds.

December 1, 20178 yr Shame not to have any of my entries there but expected I guess. Yes for Battlegrounds, Fashion Killa, Guaya & Friday Night!
December 1, 20178 yr Four of my top 10s not making it (Eclipse in particular being quite disappointing) but Bettie which came 13th making it - certainly some interesting results here
December 1, 20178 yr Five songs :o would've been the one's I'd predict to go through but I'm still over the moon - each had their own fans that adored the entry whereas Awoo, Archangel (Two Steps From Hell) and Because I Love You blended into the crowd a bit more. I'd better vote in this next round  I lost three songs to non-voting a couple years ago!!
December 1, 20178 yr Hooray for Pariah, Shame about Africa but that was always a 'maybe', just glad to have some representation again after I had none last year! Random results as always (Friday Night might be the most WTF qualifier in this ever, didn't that not even finish top 30?), TBO really gets less and less representative of the actual contests every year, but I think it's the good side of random this time. Hearth, Arvedavgi, Untouchable, Genesis and the other Steven Wilson are quite wonderful surprises *.* my noms: XCI: 07; N DNTN / Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Harajuku Iyahoi 05; Persephonia / xi - Happy End Of The World 03; 02; 01; Altyr Muunilinst / Ramin Djawadi - Light Of The Seven XCII: 07; Republic of Adonia Jutro - Travva (feat. December 1, 20178 yr Friday Night might be the most WTF qualifier in this ever, didn't that not even finish top 30?Last year MUNA - Winterbreak was 34th in its contest and still qualified for TBO!
December 1, 20178 yr There is one song that made it through here that did actually miss the top 30 in its contest though! All of the following non top 10s made it: Steven Wilson - Routine (12th) Glass Animals and Joey Bada$$ - Lose Control (12th) Violet Chachki - Bettie (13th) Hollyn - Alone (13th) SMiLE.dk - Butterfly (13th) Sabina Ddumba - Not Too Young (14th) CoCo And The Butterfields - Battlegrounds (15th) Vigiland - Friday Night (16th) K.I.D - Taker (17th) Ágy - Arvedávgi (17th) CupcakKe - LGBT (18th) Tonight Alive - Temple (18th) Ryder - Nirvana (19th) Jennifer Rostock - Schlaflos (21st) Saor - Hearth (21st) Driftmoon - Genesis (feat. DSharp) (22nd) SIAMÉS - The Wolf (23rd) Anathema - Untouchable (Parts 1 & 2) (23rd) MONOMOTION - Mango Bay (24th) Emma Bale - Worth It (26th) Leah - Met Jou Klere Aan (32nd) So that's just over a quarter of all the songs in the TBO semis lol ;o basically it was just a game of hoping enough of the biggest niche fans of these entries turned up to send nominations. I quite like this tbh, it's nice to have some unexpected tracks competing basically as wildcards (and providing some representation for some countries that didn't have any big hits during the year). Presumably the vast majority of them will go out in the semis anyway.
December 1, 20178 yr I can see the niche appeal for Leah but Emma Bale is the one that confuses me. I’m actually wondering how the results would have been affected if deductions had been applied.
December 1, 20178 yr Worth It got a few high scores originally and I think all those people turned up to score it high again here  My most WTF qualifier ever in any TBO though for sure, really surprised but also pleased. Delighted for Leah too, what a fantastic track!
December 1, 20178 yr I must've had a mind blank with Friday Night then :') Although actually, I don't think we'll ever get a more WTF qualifier than Hayley Kiyoko - Gravel to Tempo last year (which finished bottom 5)!
